Join the Forney Police Department for their first Torch Run supporting Special Olympics Texas on Friday, April 17th!

Opening ceremonies begin at 8:30 a.m., with the run starting at 9:00 a.m. in downtown Forney and ending at Spellman Amphitheater. Whether you want to run, volunteer, or support the cause, this is a great way to get involved and show your support for our athletes.

The Forney Police Department's Citizens Police Academy is in full swing, and it’s been a great experience for the students!

Participants have been introduced to Forney PD leadership and council members, and they have listened as officers explained patrol tactics and demonstrated their equipment. They have seen drones in action and had the opportunity to meet Forney PD's K9, Havoc, along with his handler, K9 Officer Spoon.

Last week, the students learned about traffic from Traffic Section officers, and tomorrow they will participate in a hands-on experience complete with lights and sirens!

The upcoming Forney Police Department CITIZENS POLICE ACADEMY (CPA) is starting soon! This is a free class for individuals 18 and older who want a “Behind the Curtain” look at the Forney Police Department. The 13-week course occurs on Thursday evenings from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, starting February 19, 2026. Classes are held at the Forney Municipal Court, next to the Forney Police Department.

The academy provides an opportunity to see firsthand how the Forney Police Department serves the community. Students will meet the department's dedicated officers and support staff.
Class topics include: Patrol techniques, Drones, K-9 units, Criminal Investigations, Dispatch, Records, SWAT, Active Shooter Response, Crime Scene Management, case preparation, Court procedures, Social Media, and more!

The CITIZENS POLICE ACADEMY is open to everyone after their application is accepted. Living within Forney's city limits is not necessary. Applications are available at the front desk of the Forney Police Department, or you can request one by emailing: [email protected].

It took more than 4 hrs to get this tractor-flatbed truck to it’s destination street - Pacific to power plant
Numerous power lines had to be manually raised for this transformer to pass under the power lines
Oncor did an excellent job as the truck moved east on Main Street to Chestnut - Broad Street - Center Street turning right on Pacific Street heading to Power Plant
