Throughout this last week, at least 9 women were killed due to femicide.

As the month ends Dreamers Hope Foundation is asking our community to take femicide seriously, speak up against gender-based violence, support survivors, and demand accountability for perpetrator let’s protect women by refusing to normalize abuse and by pushing for prevention, resources, and justice in our homes, schools, and communities; together we can

This week, we mourn the women who have lost their lives to violence at the hands of their partners. These are not just numbers or headlines; they were daughters, sisters, mothers, friends and women with dreams, families and futures.

Femicide is real, and it must not be normalized or treated as a private family matter.

At Dreamers Hope Foundation, we stand in solidarity with the victims, their families and every woman living in fear.

We call on communities to speak up, support survivors, take warning signs seriously and work together to prevent more lives from being lost. Every woman deserves to live, love and exist without fear of being killed.

World Humanitarian Day Today
Today, on World Humanitarian Day, we pause to honor the courage and compassion of humanitarian workers and volunteers across the world-people who risk their safety to bring relief, restore hope, and stand with communities in times of crisis.
Humanity isn't just a word. It's action: responding to conflict, disaster, displacement, and suffering with dignity and care.
Let's show up for each other-through kindness, support, and advocacy. Whether it's donating, volunteering, or simply spreading awareness, every effort counts.
To all aid workers, responders, and volunteers:thank you for your unwavering service.
Together, we can turn compassion into change.

Did you know
Single-use plastics may serve us for only a few minutes, but once discarded, they can remain in our environment for hundreds of years. They accumulate in drains, rivers, oceans, farms and communities, creating conditions that can directly or indirectly affect our health.
When plastic waste blocks drainage systems, it can contribute to flooding and create stagnant water where mosquitoes and other disease-carrying organisms can multiply. When plastics are burned, they can release harmful smoke and chemicals into the air, affecting respiratory health. Plastic waste can also break down into microplastics, which can enter our food, water and air, raising growing concerns about their long-term effects on human health.
At Dreamers Hope Foundation, we believe that waste can become an opportunity. Through proper collection, recycling, reuse and community education, we can reduce the amount of plastic entering our environment while creating opportunities for communities to benefit from materials that would otherwise become waste.

When the Water Rises, So Do the Health Risks.

Flooding in Limbe is more than a problem of damaged roads and homes. It is becoming a public health concern.

When flood water mixes with sewage, waste and stagnant water, it creates the perfect conditions for diseases to spread. Families may be exposed to contaminated drinking water, diarrheal diseases, skin infections, malaria and other water-related illnesses. Children, older people and vulnerable households are often hit the hardest.

And the danger does not end when the water goes down.

Contaminated water can remain in homes and communities.
Stagnant water becomes a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

Damaged water sources increase the risk of unsafe drinking water.
Poor waste disposal can make flooding and contamination worse.

So, what can we do?

Improve drainage systems and keep waterways free from waste.
Ensure affected communities have access to safe drinking water and sanitation facilities.
Strengthen early-warning systems and community preparedness before heavy rains.
Clear stagnant water and properly dispose of flood-related waste.
Educate communities on hygiene and disease prevention during and after floods.
Government, communities, CSOs and other stakeholders must work together—not only when flooding happens, but before it happens.

Teenage Pregnancy in Cameroon: Why It’s Happening and How We Can Stop It

Teenage pregnancy in Cameroon is a growing problem because many girls do not get the right information early, some face pressure or exploitation, and many cannot access safe, private health services or support that helps them stay in school; this can lead to serious health risks, dropping out of school, and a harder future for both the girl and her child.

The solution is clear: teach teens honest, simple s*x and life skills education; make youth-friendly family planning and health services easy to reach and confidential; support girls to stay in school through encouragement and help when they need it; and protect young people from coercion and abuse by involving parents, community leaders, and trusted counselors.

Did you know?

Climate change can act like an “environmental shock,” and when the environment changes suddenly, disease risk often rises with it, warmer temperatures can help mosquitoes survive longer and reproduce faster, which can increase malaria transmission, while extreme rainfall and flooding can overwhelm sanitation systems, contaminate drinking water, and force communities to use unsafe water, creating conditions where cholera can spread more easily; even drought and water shortages can reduce hygiene and make it harder to prevent infection, meaning climate change isn’t only about nature it can quietly affect everyday health, increase outbreak vulnerability, and threaten lives unless clean water, strong health responses, and climate-resilient planning are prioritized.

🌿 Did you know that Terminalia cattapa (also called Indian almond) can help support cleaner air and better human health?

Like many healthy trees, it works naturally by absorbing carbon dioxide during photosynthesis, releasing oxygen, and trapping dust and airborne particles on its leaves so while the exact “amount of air purified” by Terminalia cattapa varies depending on factors such as climate, sunlight, tree size/age, and local pollution levels, having enough well-maintained trees in an area can still make a real difference to the quality of the air people breathe. 🌬️

When the surrounding air is cleaner and less irritating, people may experience less breathing discomfort from pollutants such as dust, smoke, or vehicle emissions, and the environment can feel more comfortable to live in and spend time in.

🌱 Beyond air, this tree also improves the surroundings by providing shade and supporting a healthier ecosystem, which encourages a more sustainable, nature-friendly space so

Terminalia cattapa isn’t just a beautiful tree, it’s also a helpful part of a healthier environment.
