WESC Kid's Fishing Day
Young anglers will have the chance to cast their lines and reel in some fun during the annual West End Sportsman’s Clubs’ Kid’s Fishing Day set for Sunday, May 3, at the Bogachiel River Hatchery.
The free event, scheduled from 6 a.m. to noon, is open to children ages 12 and under and is designed to introduce young participants to the joys of fishing in a welcoming, family-friendly environment. Organizers say the day is all about creating lasting memories while encouraging kids to spend time outdoors.
Each child will be allowed to keep the first five trout they catch, with no catch-and-release permitted for smaller fish. To ensure all children can participate, a limited number of fishing poles, bait and gear will be available for loan throughout the morning.
In addition to fishing, attendees can enjoy complimentary refreshments, including coffee, hot cocoa, donuts and hot dogs, helping to keep families warm and energized during the early morning hours.
The event is free to attend, though donations are encouraged to help support future community activities.
Funding for this event is provided by the Lloyd J. Allen Charitable Trust in cooperation with the West Olympic Peninsula Betterment Association, along with continued generous support from local residents.
Organizers encourage families to arrive early and take part in what promises to be a fun-filled morning!
