This last weekend was another good and successful Forks Lions Club and Quincy Men's Service Club Firewood for Food exchange. This marked 44 yrs of this project and a partnership with the club and community of Quincy, WA.
We had two log truck loads delivered to Quincy driven by Nick Worley and Barry Swanson. A huge thank you to those gentlemen for always supporting our club, Forks, and our surrounding communities.
A big thank you to M&R and Interfor Pacific for donating the loads. They have been supporting this project with wood for many of the 44yrs it has been going on. We look forward to a continued partnership with this project and similar ones in the future.
Additionally, we wouldn't be able to get the wood there without the hard work of the loggers who call our Forks woods home. Thank you very much for this, and all you do for our community. And thank you very much to Dilley and Soloman and to Forks Fiber for taking the time to cut, organize, and load our drivers with a seperate load (which were wonderful this year) at each of your operating sides.
This Forks Lions brought back produce from the local Quincy Farms to the Forks Community Food Bank which supports Forks, Clallam Bay, and surrounding homes and organizations every year.
This year's haul included:
7000lbs. Potatoes
3600lbs. Apples
2000lbs. Onions
200lbs. Pinto and soup beans
1500lbs. Carrots
The Forks Lions would like to thank Jerry's Rentals, Sales, and Services for donating chains, mix, bar oil, files, and hearing protection year after year; the Quincy Moose Lodge for hosting and putting up with us every year; all the Forks Lions members and guests who donate their weekend, trucks, saws, and trailers to the effort; the Quincy Men's Service Club volunteers who help make this happen every year; and to the Forks Community Food Bank for getting all the food we bring organized and delivered to our community.
