On Thursday, October 8th, we held our annual vote to fill the Officer and Ambassador positions on our Board. Thank you to everyone who stepped up to serve in these critical roles, and to all who volunteered to support our 2027 events.

This selection and voting process will take place every October moving forward. We appreciate your patience and your continued interest as we refine and strengthen these new procedures. If you missed out this year, be sure to join us for our 2027 events when registration opens — and keep an eye out next fall if you’d like to throw your hat in the ring for an Officer or Ambassador position.

Now that we have completed our final 2 trips for 2026, it is imperative that we move forward with the planning of the 2027 year. This will be a special year for us, as it is the 10th anniversary of this foundation and our mission.

That means it's time to recruit volunteers, Ambassadors, and Officers! If you would consider committing to 1 year as a volunteer or an ambassador, check out the requirements and eligibility here & register!

We could not have scripted a better day on the lake as we were able to get 12 current and former Red Bulls from the 34th Infantry Division out for 8 hours of fishing. We want to thank the Washburn Inn for supporting us with rooming accommodations and a place to checkin, as well as grill some fine venison vittles.

The next day, we met with our guides from Eliminator Sportfishing as well as Northern Lights Adventures. We split the group into 6x individuals in each boat with Tadd Vanyo, the FFF rep, taking one group with Northern Lights and Shane Hybben, the volunteer FFF rep, take the other group with Eliminator. Both guides are extremely skilled and knowledgable, a strong recommend for anyone wanting to get out on Lake Superior.

It was a close battle throughout the day, but ultimately, the officers out caught the enlisted! ;)

In the end, everyone came out a winner as we shared old deployment stories, they seem to get better every time they are told, and made new friends and contacts. Thanks to the volunteers, donors, and most of all...the participating veterans.

At the 2026 American Legion National Convention, delegates adopted new membership eligibility language for the American Legion Auxiliary — expanding eligibility and allowing more family members to join the ALA. Final 2 trips of our 2026 season. The all men’s trip is on Lake Superior out of Bayfield Wi. Hosted by Tadd Vanyo & Shane Hyben. All attendees have deployed with the Red Bulls.

The all women’s trip hosted by Tori Blaisdell & Dorothy Radermacher with Kristina Dahlbloom in training is on Rainy Lake at Thunderbird Lodge near International Falls.

Stay tuned for some fun photos. It’s a beautiful day after yesterday’s rain.

And so it begins! A great night at Washburn Inn. A great group of people who support veterans. Food, food, and more food with Dorothy’s famous turkey soup leading the way along with venison steak, burgers, and brats. What a great night! Ready for the day.
