Since taking office, the Trump administration has moved to cancel major solar projects and strip incentives like the Solar for All program, which would’ve helped nearly 1 million lower-income U.S. households afford residential solar, saving them at least 20% on their electricity bill. As conflicts overseas and AI data centers drive up electricity demand, solar is rising to meet it and setting record growth. Now, even Trump allies are promoting solar as a solution to lowering energy bills. It’s about time the administration realized that solar makes economic sense.

Utility bills have risen by about 40% since early 2025, squeezing budgets as families struggle to keep the lights on. As we head into the summer, higher cooling costs will add to the burden. Meanwhile, top utility CEOs are pocketing multimillion-dollar pay raises. President Trump promised to cut utility bills in half, but his fossil fuel agenda is doing the opposite by giving handouts to the fossil fuel industry and cutting clean energy incentives.
