August has been full of camping trips! A couple weeks ago, we camped at South Beach Oregon State Parks in Newport in partnership with Oregon Spinal Cord Injury Connection and Empowering Access. We enjoyed cooler weather on the coast and time together kayaking, eating good food, and chatting around a campfire.

Gwen (she/her) was born and raised in Portland. Her first taste of nature was riding in a backpack with her parents hiking in Forest Park, a tradition they continue to this day.

Some of Gwen's formative outdoor memories include camping, rafting, and listening to the sound of birds. Gwen has long been passionate about facilitating access to inclusive recreation, growing up volunteering for Bike First every summer. She first joined in 2024, and loves combining multiple passions for connecting with nature and the disability community.

If you meet Gwen on a trip, she'd love to start a game of "Would You Rather" or share more about her affinity for kitchen utensils, particularly a good metal whisk.

Trip Highlight: Earlier this month, we got to kayak with as one part of their weekend retreat. It was a hot day on the Willamette River and we were all excited to find a shady spot to eat our lunches! We're so grateful to have been part of these ladies' weekend adventures!
