Yesterday was a really good day for Riley. And it was a really good day for me too. ā¤ļø
Riley can escalate situations with other dogs, and for everyoneās safety, it has been recommended that he not be around them. But Riley isnāt adoptable, and he shares his home with other dogs. That means when he is out with them, he wears a muzzle, or he has to be separated and crated.
He can still enjoy life, but it isnāt ideal. And lately, I think Riley has been feeling that too.
If one of my dogs is sad, Iām sad. I want them to have full, happy lives. With Riley, figuring out how to give him that while keeping everyone safe is hard.
Then a recent adopter told me about Sniffspot.
Yesterday, Riley went on his first adventure.
A giant fenced yard. Just for us. No other dogs. No muzzle. No worries.
For one whole hour, Riley ran. He hunted lizards. He sniffed everything there was to sniff. He soaked up the sunshine.
And he smiled, which made me smile.
Yesterday, Riley got to just be Riley.
This is only the beginning; we have a whole lot more adventures ahead of us. š¾
