Our Story
Our journey began in the Summer of 2022 when we received word that our Brother-In-Law, Dan had a medical emergency after working a 24-hour shift as a Spokane Valley Firefighter. His fellow Firefighters managed to restart his heart and he was rushed to the hospital. Due to his heart being stopped, Dan had significant brain swelling and was put under sedation to try to give him time to he
al. The Family was in for a long wait. The support our Family received from Spokane Valley Fire Department was truly amazing. They were there for us 24 hours a day with everything from food to emotional support. This support included a Chaplain and his Therapy K9, Pierce. As we waited for news day after day, we would receive periodic visits from Pierce. As Pierce worked the room, I would see faces full of worry, stress, and grief turn temporarily to peace. Pierce provided a much-needed break for the entire family. After seeing how much Pierce and the fire department helped our family, we decided we wanted to provide K9 therapy services with a passion for serving those who serve others. Tragically on August 4, 2022, Dan passed away. Dan’s Badge number was 348. In remembrance of Dan, we organized a nonprofit therapy K9 service, 348 Golden Angels.
