The Conservancy is filming its annual Holly Ball video today at Sunshine Acres, conservation easement!

Thanks to board members, Sunshine Acres landowner Elena, and our two local celebrity judges: Julie from Julie Michelle Cakes and Carly Van Pelt, baker from the Food Network's Kids Baking Championship.

We can't wait for this video's debut at Holly Ball this year on Decmber 5th!

Our preorder Oak Tree & Native Shrub Sale pickup is today at the Mill House from 9 AM-4!

If you placed an order for our sale don't forget to grab your oak trees/shrubs. They came in earlier this week, looking healthy and gorgeous!

Please note this is a preorder only sale. Our sale preorders begin in August every year. Our next preorder Native Plant Sale starts in April of 2027, complete with flowers, grasses, and sedges!

In honor of the first day of October, we're sharing some fall photos of our public preserve: Hermansen Woods off of Lake Como.
Hermansen woods is a 15-acre woodland that has undergone extensive restoration to restore the native woodland habitat.

From access on South Como road hiking through the preserve to Red Chimney Road is a quick 15 minutes with gorgeous views and small hills.

Time to take flight!
Great Blue Herons are beginning to migrate south mid-September to October, with some staying as late as November.

Did you know that Great Blue Herons have feathers on their chest, referred to as the "powder down" which they use to remove fish slime and other oils? These feathers continuously grow, which breaks down into a dust and works it into other feathers on their bodies for cleaning.

Wave bye if you see them as they journey south, some as far as the Caribbean!
