On June 6, 1944, Allied forces stormed the beaches of Normandy, changing the course of history through unimaginable courage and sacrifice. Today, on the D‑Day anniversary, we honor the WWII heroes who faced the darkness so future generations could live in freedom.

At United States Veterans Service Dogs (USVSD), we carry their legacy forward by standing with the Veterans of every era who still fight their own battles at home. Through the partnership of highly trained service dogs and Veterans, we see service, sacrifice, and brotherhood continue in a new form; one that restores independence, connection, and hope.

As we remember D‑Day, we:
- Honor the WWII Veterans and families who gave so much.
- Recognize all who have worn the uniform in the decades since.
- Renew our commitment to serve those who served.

We will never forget their sacrifice, and we will never stop fighting for our Veterans. 🇺🇸🐕‍🦺

We're honored to have Charlton Meginley, Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs, join President Inge Conley and Vice President Steven Cook at the Sail 250 in New Orleans. Our partnership helps spread awareness of USVSD's vital work in supporting veterans and their path to a brighter future.

You are not alone, and you don’t have to carry this burden by yourself.

Did you know that PTSD affects about 5% of the general U.S. population, which means roughly 13 million Americans are living with this condition? Texas VFW is encouraging everyone to take this month to raise awareness, break the silence, and foster compassionate conversations about mental health.

Support our Veterans and active military members by reaching out, educating ourselves on the signs of PTSD, and sharing resources.

If you or a Veteran you know is struggling, the Veterans Crisis Line offers immediate help:

It was a great to partner with sail 250 USO Louisiana Mississippi to allow us to come and talk about how we support our veterans!
It was an honor to share how our specially trained dogs provide support to mitigate the effects of mental and physical disabilities.

Everyone loved meeting Zeus, our future service dog in training! 🐶🐾

Some dogs are trained for the job.

Some dogs are born for it.

Abe was trained for many tasks, but his true calling was PTSD support.

From picking up items and opening doors to sensing when his veteran needed him most, Abe showed early on that he was meant for this work.

For Navy Veteran Chris Rogers, Abe became more than a service dog; he became a trusted partner in healing.

Chris once questioned whether PTSD service dogs were real. Now, he knows the truth:

They are trained to help.
Their job is to support.
And sometimes, healing begins when you allow yourself to accept the help.
