Join us for a tail-wagging good time at Placer SPCA's Wag & Walk 2026 on Saturday, October 10th!

We'll be at Johnson-Springview Park in Rocklin from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Come chat with us about our favorite breed, meet our adorable adoptable dogs, and reconnect with our wonderful alums at this lively, dog-friendly community festival.

And please let us know if you can help us at our booth.

Even better, admission to the festival and vendor marketplace is free, so gather your family and bring your leashed pups along for the fun!

It's , and it's worth celebrating black dogs who sometimes have to wait longer for their forever families.

From a 10-month-old puppy the Front Street Animal Shelter - City of Sacramento staff had to carry to the rescue volunteer's car because he was terrified of the world, Knight has become an amazing companion to his family, who have helped him settle into a secure, loving shepherd over the last six years. He visits us every year to say hello at Bark in the Park San Jose and shares his latest skill.

Free Foster Friday is here! Free training and socialization for foster dogs and their humans.

Every other Friday, 6–7 PM, starting Friday, October 16, at a private park in La Riviera.

Bring your foster dog out to build confidence, practice real-life skills around distractions, and meet other fosters. We'll help you work through challenges, and we may take photos and video to help your foster get noticed by adopters.

As the sun sets earlier this fall, we're working on an indoor spot. Registered fosters will be the first to know if the location changes.

To join:
• Your dog must be in foster care and available for adoption
• Your rescue must approve your attendance
• Your rescue must OK photos/video and let us tag them
• Fosters stay and take part with their dog

It's free, and spots are limited. Save your spot: www.WholisticCanine.dog/events

As always, Bark in the Park San Jose connects us with shepherd lovers, our alums who brought Knight, Wh***ey, Gaia, and Winnie to say hello, and our wonderful volunteers! We loved meeting another Wh***ey and Riva too! We’re so grateful for our volunteers who give their time for this all-day event, and to the Bark in the Park San Jose volunteers who run an impeccably organized outreach event every year. We also love meeting fellow vendors who share our love of dogs.

Our next event is in Rocklin; we’d love to see you on October 10th.

Meet Ghost! We sprung this gorgeous 6 month old boy from the shelter yesterday and we’re already smitten with him. He’s smart, loves people and dogs - winning combo!!! Checkout his bio at ShepHeroes.org/adopt for more photos and videos. Let’s find him a great home for the large dog he’s going to become.

Please note that we do not adopt outside of Northern CA.
