Wilting doesn't always mean a plant needs more water. When soil stays saturated for too long, roots can struggle to get enough oxygen and plants may show symptoms that look surprisingly similar to underwatering. Before adding more water, check what's happening a few inches below the soil surface.

🌸🍠 Did you know sweet potatoes are morning glories?

If you’ve ever grown sweet potatoes and spotted a flower that looks suspiciously like a morning glory, there’s a good reason!

Sweet potatoes (Ipomoea batatas) belong to the morning glory family, Convolvulaceae. Their trumpet-shaped blooms can be pale pink or lavender with a beautiful deep purple center, just like many of their ornamental relatives.

Sweet potatoes don’t always flower, so you may grow them for years without seeing a bloom. Flowering can be influenced by the variety as well as environmental conditions such as heat, day length, and stress.

And here’s another fun fact: the sweet potato we eat is a storage root, not a tuber like an Irish potato.

Sometimes the vegetable garden gives us a little botany lesson along with supper. 🌿🍠🌸

Give a couple of old bricks a charming new life by turning them into your favorite books! Paint each brick to look like a book spine, adding a simple title, flowers, or tiny hand-painted illustrations. Once the paint is dry, seal them with clear outdoor varnish. Place your finished “books” beside a planter, along a garden path, or between pots for a whimsical garden accent. They’re sturdy enough to stay put—and unlike real books, they won’t mind a little rain!
