In April of 2025 Voltaire completed his 9 week pre-apprenticeship in residential carpentry at build strong academy then joined our REPEAT Entrepreneur Workforce for additional career exploration and experience. When he expressed interest in automotive work and we connected him with our empowerment partners at Anthony’s Auto Care Services and he immediately got connected with an industry mentor and began hands on training. In just 6 months he completed more than 1000 hours of paid learning hours building foundational knowledge and entry level skills in automotive care and repair through real shop experience and consistent mentorship. He demonstrated steady growth not only in ability, but confidence and professional readiness. As a result of his performance he’s officially graduated from our program and secured employment at that very shop.
His quick transition from learner to employee reflects the strength of birdhouses applied learning model where community based service projects become direct pathways to employment. Reflecting on his journey, Voltaire shared, “This experience help me learn something new about myself.” His success embodies our mission in action, equipping young adults with real skills, real experience, and real opportunities for long-term growth.
