Today the Folsom Lake Kiwanis Club welcomed retired Folsom Prison Peace Officer Dave Cade, who spent over 22 years serving at both the old and new Folsom prisons. Dave shared memorable stories from his career and gave us insight into the history of the facilities. He also volunteers as a docent at the newly reopened Folsom Prison Museum, located in the former warden’s residence.

Charlayne Bowman and John Fulasawa are shown presenting Dave with a Certificate of Appreciation for his time and dedication.

This was also our first official meeting at our new home, Frends Brewhouse in Folsom. With Mimi’s now closed, we invite anyone interested in learning more about our club to check our page for upcoming meeting locations and events.

Today the Kiwanis Club of Folsom Lake proudly inducted our newest member, Reverend Amanda Anderson of Journey Church of Folsom. She was joined by Karen Poskus and John Fukasawa as we celebrated her commitment to serving the community.

The Vista del Lago Music & Drama Boosters and Kiwanis Club of Folsom extend a heartfelt thank‑you to Josh from American Energy Air for his big purchase of safe and sane fireworks at our booth in the Walmart Shopping Center. His family and neighbors are sure to enjoy a colorful and noisy Fourth of July.

We still have lots of fireworks left, so come see us in the Folsom Walmart parking lot and support local charities. We’re proud to partner with Vista del Lago this season.

The Kiwanis Club of Folsom Lake had the privilege of hearing from Coach Greg Roeszler and Katie Freeman about the incredible work of The Playmakers organization.

The Playmakers exists to enhance the lives of all kids and families through inclusive sports, community service, and life‑long relationships. Their programs support children with developmental differences across several states, giving them opportunities to grow, build confidence, and discover their own value within their communities.

It was a truly moving and inspiring presentation, and we are grateful for the work The Playmakers are doing to uplift children and families.
