Non-Profit Organization providing Cystic Fibrosis patients and their families the opportunity to engage in surfing, a natural therapy supplement to traditional treatments, while raising awareness and research funds for the disease.

Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disease that affects approximately 30,000 people in the U.S. It causes the production of thick mucus, which eventually clogs the lungs and can lead to a variety of lung infections. Furthermore, this disease also affects the pancreas, disabling digestive enzymes to break and absorb food. Past studies have led scientists to conclude that inhaling concentrated salt water (hypertonic saline) mist provided benefits to adults and children suffering from CF. Moreover, Australian doctors observed that young surfers with cystic fibrosis had significantly healthier lungs.

3rd Street Society was founded by two lifelong friends, one of which has the disease, in an effort to encourage and promote surfing to any CF patients that wish to learn. Our mission is to provide CF patients and their families everything they need to learn how to surf and reap the natural benefits the ocean can provide.
