Somewhere along the way, being an adult started to mean being productive all the time.

And play became something we squeezed in. If there was time. If everything else was done.

But play isn't just for kids.

It's a chance to move without measuring performance. To laugh at yourself. To spend time with people without needing an agenda.

Sometimes it's surfing. Sometimes it's yoga. Sometimes it's five adults in Halloween costumes trying to keep a volleyball from hitting the sand.

Different activities. Same opportunity to connect.

At Warrior Surf, we see how powerful it can be to give people a reason to show up, try something new, and experience something together.

When was the last time you did something just because it was fun?

Well, Charleston. That escalated quickly. 👻🏐

Our first-ever Spook & Spike beach volleyball tournament is officially SOLD OUT!

12 teams are coming to Folly Beach on Halloween morning for costumes, questionable volleyball decisions, and a whole lot of community.

Didn't get a team together? You're not off the hook.

Come watch. Cheer obnoxiously. Support your favorite team. Hang out with us at Pinky's afterward for live music and drink specials.

Because you don't have to be on the court to be part of this.

📍 Logan Hall Memorial Courts, Folly Beach
📅 Saturday, October 31
⏰ Check-in begins at 8 AM

Big love to Nomad Fitness and Yoloha Yoga for helping bring this one to life.

Charleston, we'll see you on the sand. 🤙

Twelve weeks looks different from the inside.
It's early mornings and sandy feet.

It's falling off the board. Getting back on. Trying again. And then coming back the next week to do it all over again.

It's surf sessions and yoga. Conversations on the beach. Laughing while boards get loaded up. Hanging around a little longer afterward.

And somewhere in all that repetition, something changes.
The faces that were unfamiliar in week one aren't unfamiliar anymore. The beach feels different. Showing up starts to feel like something you do together.

Our final Warrior Surf class of 2026 is getting close to the end of its 12 weeks.

Graduation will mark the end of the program.
We're much more interested in what they carry with them afterward.

Almost there, crew. 🤙

We know what we see on the beach. Now we're measuring it.

For years, we've watched what can happen when Veterans spend 12 weeks surfing, practicing yoga, working with wellness professionals, and building relationships with one another.

But seeing change and measuring it are two different things.
That's why Warrior Surf is working with the College of Charleston to study what happens across our 12-week program. Researchers are looking at measures ranging from sleep, stress and heart-rate variability to mental health, quality of life, strength and balance.

The research is still underway, which means we're not here to tell you what the results say yet.

We're doing the work to find out.
Because if we're serious about helping people, we should also be serious about understanding how, where and why change happens.

We'll share more as we learn more.

Thank you so much for your support!

Thank you so much for your support!

Another month of giving back to our local community! ❤️🤝

Throughout September, Smoak’s Comfort Control proudly partnered with Dave Williams ABC News4 and WCIV | ABC News 4 through the 4 Degree Guarantee in support of Warrior Surf Foundation. Thanks to another month of accurate forecasts, we were proud to present Warrior Surf Foundation with a $1,050 check!

Warrior Surf Foundation serves veterans and their families through surf therapy, wellness programs, and opportunities that support mental and physical well-being. We’re grateful the 4 Degree Guarantee gave us another opportunity to support an organization making a difference right here in our community.

Each weekday during the 5 PM newscast, when Dave’s forecast temperature lands within four degrees of the actual temperature, Smoak’s Comfort Control donates $50 to a local nonprofit. One forecast and one donation at a time, it’s another way we can give back to the community that has supported our family and company for more than 50 years and three generations.

And we’re keeping the momentum going! 🙌

For October and November, we’re excited to partner with the Lowcountry Food Bank through the 4 Degree Guarantee. We’re also taking our support a step further by collecting food donations to help our neighbors throughout the Lowcountry.

We’ll be collecting canned goods and other non-perishable food items. All donations must be unopened and unexpired. Please, no homemade foods.

Stay tuned for more details on how you can help us Can the Hunger this fall! 🥫

Local supporting local. One weather forecast, one donation, and now one can at a time. ❤️

Charleston is part of this, too.
Yes, our Veterans surf on Folly Beach. But zoom out a little and you'll see an entire local community wrapped around the program.

The volunteer carrying boards. The yoga teacher rolling out mats. The restaurant feeding everyone after an event. The business sponsoring a team. The person standing on the beach cheering. The friend who showed up once and somehow never really left.

None of those things are the 12-week program on paper.
But they're part of what participants experience when they get here.
Because community isn't just something that happens around Warrior Surf. It's part of what makes Warrior Surf work.

People come for surfing, yoga and wellness coaching. They also find familiar faces. Places where they're expected. People who notice when they show up. Reasons to come back.

Warrior Surf happens here because Charleston keeps showing up for it.
And that's something we don't take lightly. 🌊

Some of the best parts of the community aren't on the calendar.
Lately, some of the women in our Warrior Surf community have been gathering on the beach for full moon circles. 🌕

No surf lesson. No finish line. Just time outside, together. Because one of our favorite things to watch is what happens when the relationships formed here start creating a life of their own. People keep meeting. Keep checking in. Keep finding reasons to gather.

Programs can create the opportunity for connection. Community is what people build from there.

And Folly isn't a bad place to do it.
