Juliet gave me a tour of the improvements at the school since I was last there 2 years ago. There have been physical expansions to three of the buildings to create a larger kitchen, an extra classroom and storage. She has expanded her livestock both for food and cash for other needs. On top of these things she is providing high quality teachers, food and curriculum for the students.
She and I both extend our deepest thanks to The Kopp Family Foundation in Minneapolis,Minnesota for their ongoing support and for the other generous donations that make all these improvements possible for the many orphans who are educated and housed on these premises and for those who pay and are transported daily back and forth to their homes.

Another welcoming greeting at the Kagurusi Memorial Nursery and Primary School in Lyantonde, Uganda. The children really work hard with their music/dance teacher to prepare a special program for me and Juliet works hard to plan and make preparations for a special meal for the school children.

The boys and girls at Kagurusi School, mostly orphans, are excelling in both their academics and now in sports! Both the girls and boys won their games!!!
Juliet is barely hanging on with a shoe string budget. Teacher’s salaries are supported by Transform A Life Today but the needs are great as drought has driven the price of food to unprecedented levels.
A teacher’s salary averages $110 a month. An uncooked chicken is $10.00. I can buy a rotisserie chicken already cooked for less.😔
Transform A Life Today is a 501 C3 nonprofit which means your contributions are tax deductible.
All donations $250 or more automatically receive a tax deductible receipt. Receipts upon request for less than $250.

In a country where people still cook over open fires, have no indoor plumbing, struggle with disease and lack of food and water, you find communities like Kagurusi School and orphanage where God’s love and goodness are proclaimed and exampled. Orphans and widows are taken in and SOMEHOW provided for.
This video did not come from this community but it is the face of people everywhere who have so little yet give thanks for what they have.
Living in poverty is hard anywhere but most difficult where there are no handouts, no shelters, no social services, where drought from climate change is felt most horrifically and everything is too expensive for any but the wealthy.
When a chicken ready to cook is $10 and you make $110 a month (teachers at Kagurusi School) it is difficult to afford anything that we consider normal daily food here in America.

On this day, one year ago we were able to place this water tank at Juliet’s orphanage and school. We have been keeping fresh water in it but are now working towards a permanent well thanks to a donor who has stepped up to do that. Thank you soooo much!!! Lyantonde Uganda and much of Africa is going through a terrible drought right now. People and animals are suffering.

Thanks to charitable donations. Juliet was able to travel to Kampala to see a doctor. She is now on medication for HBP and Cholesterol. We are hoping this gets some of her symptoms under control.

TALT is an NGO that was just filed this week for 501 C3 status. We are just waiting for it to be approved. We have guaranteed contributors so it is on the fast track. In the meantime Juliet,who founded the school and orphanage, and is integral to all of its workings, is in need of medical attention in Kampala 3 1/2 hours away from her home. This is not an easy trip as it requires money as does the medical care Juliet does not drive or own her own car and for absolute sure money is hard to come by. Children barter there school payments for corn and beans .
TALT will be starting out covering teacher expenses so we can keep good ones. There is nothing left after that. We would love to help fund her medical cost. My GoFundMe me is on my personal page.
