🌧️ Olde Time Days – RESCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10TH!!!

Due to the unfavorable weather conditions expected this weekend, Olde Time Days has been rescheduled to Saturday, October 10, 2026, same time, same place at Bicentennial Park!

We announced yesterday that the Olde Time Days event for this year would move forward rain or shine; however, we have made the decision to reschedule the event. This decision was made due to the updated National Weather Service forecast showing a substantial rise in rain coverage and expected rainfall amounts that would directly impact event safety and operations.

While some vendors had prior commitments for the weekend of the 10th, our team is working hard to bring you the same great experience you look forward to every year.

Stay tuned to our social media pages for updates on entertainment and stage lineup, kids’ activities, and more. We appreciate your understanding and can’t wait to see everyone next Saturday!

Great article.

Here's something that's difficult to picture while sitting in today's Highway 59 traffic.

Foley used to be known for potatoes.

Not tourism.

Not outlet shopping.

Not amusement parks.

Potatoes.

Foley developed during the early 1900s after founder John B. Foley helped bring railroad service into the community. The first railroad station was built in 1905, and the Louisville & Nashville Railroad provided farmers with a much easier way to ship agricultural products out of South Baldwin County.

And one crop became particularly important.

Potatoes.

The City of Foley specifically identifies potatoes as one of the notable local farm products that were warehoused and shipped through town. The Encyclopedia of Alabama likewise describes early Foley as primarily a farming community whose depot and warehouses handled farm products, particularly potatoes.

That agricultural economy wasn't some tiny side business.

Historic Baldwin County records describe Foley's potato harvest as a staple of the region's agricultural production.

Imagine downtown Foley during those years.

Farmers bringing crops into town.

Warehouses loading produce.

Railcars waiting to carry Baldwin County agriculture to distant markets.

The railroad was eventually discontinued in the 1970s, and Foley's economy evolved dramatically.

Today millions of visitors know Foley as the last major city they pass through before reaching Gulf Shores.

But long before those cars were packed with beach chairs and suitcases, trains were leaving Foley packed with Baldwin County farm products.

Including a whole lot of potatoes.

Had a great day on our tractor cruise. Eight tractors and a great ride. The weather was beautiful and we saw some beautiful countryside. Then we ate at Rocky Creek Catfish and rode back to Puppy Creek Ranch. 🚜🫑🌽🥒🍅
