Our LEGO Summer STEAM Workshop is in full effect this morning!

Students are putting their creativity, problem-solving, engineering, and teamwork skills to work as they build, design, and explore through hands-on learning. We love seeing imaginations come to life while developing valuable STEAM skills in a fun and engaging environment!

Thank you to Vulcan Human Resources for allowing their staff to volunteer with us for the day!

Their team helped us complete a deep clean of SBLC and unload sheetrock for our new building. Their hard work and willingness to give back made a tremendous difference, and we are incredibly grateful for their support.

Projects like these would not be possible without the generosity and dedication of our community partners. Thank you for investing your time and energy into helping us continue our mission and prepare for the future.

We truly appreciate your support and look forward to working together again next year!

So far, 19 students have earned their GED in 2026!

Our newest graduate is Ms. Sydney! Sydney came to South Baldwin Literacy Council in early 2023 after being homeschooled and without a high school diploma. She made incredible progress through most subjects, but needed additional support in Science and Math. Through her determination, consistency, and the support of her tutor, Kim, Sydney pushed through and earned her GED!

Sydney was always a bright presence in our office—she showed up for herself every week with a smile and a strong commitment to her goals. We are so excited for her next chapter, though we will certainly miss seeing her around the office.

Sydney is now exploring next steps, including training for office administration roles or possibly pursuing a career as a paramedic.

Any local business owners' offices hiring for a front desk receptionist, Sydney would be a wonderful addition to your team! Tag below!

Our classroom was PACKED last night! 🙌

We had 13 people show up for volunteer orientation, and it was so inspiring to see so many people willing to give back to their community in such a meaningful way.

We are so excited to show these new volunteers the difference just 1–2 hours a week can make in a student’s life — and how it can truly change the volunteer’s life too. Literacy changes families, opportunities, and futures.

If you’ve been thinking about getting involved, we would absolutely love to have you join us at our next volunteer orientation!

Building update!

We’ve officially passed our 4-point inspection! Next up, sheetrock is being delivered tomorrow.

We currently have the electricity wired, fiber installed, and our HVAC completed. It’s all starting to come together slowly but surely!

We are incredibly excited about this building and so thankful for everyone who has contributed, supported, and believed in this project along the way. We cannot wait to continue growing and serving our community through education and literacy here in Baldwin County! ❤️

Congratulations to our newest GED graduate, Andrew! 🎉

Andrew joined South Baldwin Literacy Council in the middle of March with the goal of earning his GED, and from day one he showed dedication, consistency, and a positive attitude toward learning. He regularly attended self-study sessions and worked hard every step of the way to reach this accomplishment.

Andrew has some exciting goals for his future! He hopes to pursue trade school for electrical work, explore offshore work on a barge, earn his captain’s license, and eventually take theology courses in college.

We are incredibly proud of Andrew and all he has accomplished. While we will definitely miss seeing him around the office, we know he is headed toward amazing opportunities and a bright future ahead.

Congratulations, Andrew, on this huge accomplishment! Your SBLC family is cheering you on every step of the way!
