As we start a new season of Scouting I'd like to share this brief history of St. Kevin's Scouting:

On Tuesday September 11, 2001, our country was attacked. 2977 people were lost that day, including over 400 of our firemen and policemen. Our world was changed forever. The remarkable strength of America and the resiliency of New York were shown during this time as we banded together and began to heal. As Americans we will never forget this tragedy. We must remain ever vigilant to the danger in this world, and we must be prepared to act when faced with adversity.

In the months that followed a new Cub Scout unit was beginning to form. The Cubmaster, Ken Sagrestano who is an Eagle Scout, was asked to come up with a number for the unit. He lost a very dear friend and fellow Eagle Scout, Steve Fiorelli, on September 11th. Both Ken and Steve worked for The Port Authority. The Port lost 75 people during the attack, and it is in honor of those people that Pack 75 was given its unit number.

Ken thought back to all the memories he had in Scouts and hoped all the boys who might pass through 75 would have memories that they would hold dear for the rest of their lives. Pack 75 started that first year with 11 Tiger Scouts and 1 Wolf Cub. Four years later Pack 75 had grown to have over 30 Cubs and Troop 75 was formed. Fifteen years later, St. Kevin’s Boy Scout Troop 75 and Pack 75 is still a living memorial and We will Never Forget.
