Meet Sonu (7 years old) from Bal Chetna organization:

Sonu came to DWCC as a 3 month old infant after having been abandoned. Upon evaluation at PALNA and subsequently multiple hospital visits, he was diagnosed with Congenital Osteogenesis Imperfecta, a genetic disease that causes fragile bones leading to fractures. Between Sep 2014 to Jan 2019, Sonu received 18 courses of special Pamidronate therapy every 3 months but fractures persisted even with the smallest jerk. He was then started on Zolandronic therapy in Apr 2019 and appears to be growing well with the current treatment.

Sonu is a very social child but does have a slight behavioral and anger problem. To improve his cognitive and behavioral challenges, Sonu is engaged in behavior modification therapy, play therapy, and art therapy. Between May 2019 to Jun 2020, Sonu gained 450 gm of weight and grew 1.5 cm height taller, a true milestone for this sweet child.
