AREAA New York East was proud to join the Queens Chamber of Commerce on February 11 in Flushing, Queens to celebrate the Lunar New Year with our community!

A special shoutout to Flushing Chinese Business Association (FCBA) for organizing such a vibrant and well-attended parade that brought together local businesses, organizations, and families in celebration of culture, tradition, and prosperity for the year ahead.

Representing AREAA were:

Gloria Cepin, Past President, AREAA New York East

Brendan Leavy, Community & Co-Sponsorship Chair

Michael Fong, Past President, AREAA Brooklyn & AREAA National Policy Committee Vice Chair

We extend our sincere thanks to both the Queens Chamber of Commerce and NewYork-Presbyterian, a proud sponsor of the Chamber, for graciously allowing us to join the float. With beautiful weather and an incredible crowd, the energy throughout Flushing made for a truly festive and memorable celebration.

Events like this highlight the strength of our partnerships and our shared commitment to supporting the AANHPI community and local small businesses.

Wishing everyone a happy, healthy, and prosperous Lunar New Year! 🧧

Housing policy has been a cornerstone of AREAA’s mission since our founding in 2003—because sustainable homeownership does not happen by chance. It happens through intentional advocacy, informed leadership, and a collective voice at the table.

As we prepare for this year’s AREAA Housing Policy Summit, we are bringing together members from across the country to engage directly with policymakers, share the real experiences of our communities, and advocate for solutions that expand access to homeownership—especially for first-time AANHPI buyers navigating affordability, lending access, language barriers, and market uncertainty.

This Summit is more than meetings on Capitol Hill. It is about:
• Ensuring our communities are seen, heard, and understood in federal housing conversations
• Turning real estate professionals into informed advocates for sustainable homeownership
• Advancing practical policies that address affordability, fair lending, and market accessibility
• Strengthening the bridge between national policy decisions and local market realities

AREAA’s voice in Washington, DC reflects the experiences of the families, entrepreneurs, and first-generation buyers we serve every day. When our members show up, we bring with us data, stories, and solutions grounded in the communities we represent.

I look forward to working alongside our chapter leaders, policy committee members, and national partners as we continue this important work.

Together, we are not just discussing housing—we are shaping pathways to generational wealth and opportunity.

As we welcome the New Year, AREAA New York East Chapter looks ahead with renewed purpose and commitment to advancing sustainable homeownership for the communities we serve.

While housing supply continues to face challenges nationwide, this moment calls for stronger collaboration among industry leaders, policymakers, and local communities. Together, we must not only advocate for smart housing policies, but also take meaningful action—supporting responsible development, expanding access to homeownership resources, and fostering education that empowers the next generation of buyers and homeowners.

In the year ahead, AREAA New York East will continue to be a voice in the room—working alongside our partners at the local, state, and national levels to promote solutions that increase housing opportunity, strengthen our markets, and ensure that the dream of homeownership remains attainable and sustainable for all.

Happy Lunar New Year!

Proud to see strong representation from the AREAA New York East Chapter at the 2026 AREAA Annual Leadership Summit held at Citi Headquarters in NYC.

2026 President Andrew Wu and 2023-2024 Past President Gloria Cepin attended on behalf of the chapter, joining fellow AREAA New York sister chapters—Brooklyn and Manhattan—for a full day of leadership development, collaboration, and shared learning.

It was inspiring to see our local chapters come together alongside leaders from across the East Coast to exchange ideas, strengthen chapter success strategies, and continue building momentum to advance AREAA’s mission of sustainable homeownership and community empowerment.

Looking forward to continued partnership among our New York chapters as we carry this energy into the year ahead!
