Planting season is not over! Volunteers have been growing plants raised from seed this spring, and digging natives from their own gardens to share at this event, Native Plants for Pollinators, this Saturday October 24th.
We have about 400 plants to distribute and we are looking forward to increasing Floyd's native pollinator habitat, one garden at a time.

Wendell Berry's voice clarified the situation about farming and their importance in communities and food systems.

We will hold another native plant distribution on Saturday, October 24th starting at 10:30am with Floyd Native Plants. Our volunteers will be set up giving out these plants for pollinators until they are gone.

You can now save time on your Refillery visit by emailing your order in advance. We will make up your order in recycled containers, which you can return to us for reuse. Email by 5:00pm on Thursday to pick up on Saturday at the back of the Farmers Market.

We stock a good range of household cleaners and personal care products that can be refilled, or are otherwise aimed at reducing waste, We are always happy to see you and show you how things work. Find a list of the items we have and preorder forms here: https://floydresource.org/refillery/

We need certain types of used containers for our refill collection. The items shown in the photo are useful: bottles suitable for dish soap, small laundry detergent containers (not bigger than 1/2 gallon) and pump bottles for hand soaps. Please do not bring in glass jars that can easily be recycled, except for clean mason jars with lids.

Our community Reuse/Recycle day is on Saturday, September 5 at the Farmers Market Pavilion from 10:00 to 12:30.

We are moving our focus away from collecting all plastic film. Plastic film can be recycled at the bin outside Food Lion.
We are now collecting only reusable plastic film items such as single use grocery bags and reusable pieces of bubble wrap.
Please sort these and bring them to us. We can find good uses for them.

Although we will be collecting #5 plastic this month, we are still unsure about the future. This market is always shifting and we want to be sure that the plastic is being responsibly recycled.
Our best hope is to reduce use of plastic. A great solution is to start making your own yogurt and ricotta. These containers make up about 80% of our collection.
