Friends was founded in 1989 by a group of dedicated volunteers from around the state to fundraise, build awareness and encour

age volunteerism. Since then, more than $45 million has been raised to purchase state-of-the-art equipment, construct new facilities and provide vitally important services for Mississippi's smallest patients. The 2026 Hal's St. Paddy's Parade & Festival raised more than $200,000 for our state’s only children’s hospital! 🍀

Yesterday, we gathered on the playground at Children’s of Mississippi with John and Jeanne Scarbrough and members of the Friends Board of Directors to remember Hudson Scarbrough, John and Jeanne’s son, in a place that now carries his name and memory.

John’s years of leadership with Friends, and the Scarbrough family’s continued support of our mission, have left a lasting impact on countless children and families across Mississippi.

Hudson’s life was brief, but the love and goodness that continue in his memory are lasting. This playground is a place where children can feel joy during their hospital stay, and we are so grateful that Hudson’s memory will live on there.

For more than two decades, Mississippi drivers have helped raise more than $6 million for Friends of Children’s Hospital through specialty car tags. We are so grateful to every driver who chooses a tag that gives back and helps support our state’s youngest patients!

We're so grateful for our friends at Paul Moak Subaru for their continued support of Friends of Children's Hospital as their hometown charity partner through the Subaru Share the Love Event.

This past holiday season, Share the Love raised $17,500 for Friends—and over the years, Paul Moak Subaru and Subaru have contributed more than $190,000 through this yearly event to support Mississippi’s only children’s hospital.

Our hearts are heavy as we remember our board member and friend, Jia Scott. Jia was an incredible person and a true champion of Friends of Children’s Hospital. Through her years of service and charitable work, she made a lasting impact on our organization and community.

We are so grateful for her contributions to the mission of Friends and to the children and families we serve. She gave her time, heart, and support so generously, and her impact will be felt for years to come.
