We are a 501 (c) (3) chapter of the National Christ Child Society, committed to improving the lives of children most in need in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Founded in 1887 by Mary Virginia Merrick in Washington, D.C., Christ Child Society volunteers have been driven by faith, love, and a desire to make a difference. We create localized programs or partner with others to build better communities. C
CSDFW currently focuses on these areas:
Literacy and Family Engagement
Recognizing that literacy is vital in the struggle out of poverty and begins with the love of reading, CCSDFW develops programs and activities designed to instill excitement about books and reading in young children. In partnership with school districts and other organizations, we offer book fairs, tutoring, and conduct family-friendly events to promote literacy and family togetherness. Community Service
We believe that resiliency and self-sufficiency are integral to building strong communities and providing a better future for children. To make a difference, CCSDFW prepares Hygiene Kits for teens, Foster Care Comfort Bags, and
administers a Christmas gift collection program. Basic Needs Services
Every child has dignity and worth, and many of them live in vulnerable conditions. We support children in need through our Layette Program, the signature program of CCS chapters across the country. Additionally, we
collect non-perishable goods for distribution in monthly snack bags and participate in the Kids Eat Free summer program in an effort to
mitigate food insecurity.
