Downing Middle School PTA is a non-profit organization that provides parents and families with a powerful voice to speak on behalf of every child while providing the best tools for parents to help their children be successful students. PTA’s Purpose

To promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, community and place of worship;
To raise the standards of home life;
To secure adequate

laws for the care and protection of children and youth;
To bring into closer relation the home and the school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth;
To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social and spiritual education.

We made it to the finish line! Bravo to all of our DMS families and teachers on a job well done this school year. Reminder - the first Wrap Pack deadline is tomorrow. The price goes up by $5 on 5/20 and the absolute last day to purchase is 6/14. We have made several updates to the packs using guidance from teachers and the Binder Hospital crew to ensure the included supplies best meet the needs of students.

Our Teacher Appreciation Week committee knocked it out of the park last week. With a Downing Airlines theme, special touches like “in flight snacks” and fun decorations to make our teachers feel extra special. Yummy “stops” in Mexico and Asia were accompanied with amazing foods and decor. Thanks to all of the volunteers who worked to make it a special week for the teachers.

Our final spirit night of the school year is Wednesday night at Handel’s. Make plans to celebrate a successful year by grabbing a sweet treat.

Thank you for all the diaper donations! It’s not too late to drop off donations. Diapers can be dropped off tomorrow at the front office or at collection boxes in the breezeway.

In case you missed it - this week is Teacher Appreciation Week! As a PTA we have something fun planned for the teachers and staff each day this week but if you’d like to do something personal, feel free to send in a note or small gift for your child’s teachers letting them know they are valued.

Reminder - we are collecting diaper donations this week to give to PediPlace. Collection boxes are set up in the main entry as well as the breezeway. Sizes 1-3 are preferred but any size is appreciated.

Our next philanthropic supply drive will be a diaper drive to benefit PediPlace in Lewisville. Please consider purchasing a pack of diapers (size 1-3 preferred) and drop off any day next week (collection spots will be in front foyer as well as the breezeway).

Parents - no need to run to the store tonight for a special STAAR snack - stay safe and dry and let us take care of it! PTA is providing snacks for ALL of the students tomorrow as they tackle the Math STAAR. Thanks for your support this year - it’s our amazing DMS community that affords us the opportunity to provide treats like this for your kiddos.
