VOLUNTEER OF THE QUARTER...NIKKI SEARS!

Nikki serves Liberty Ministry as the chairperson of our SOCTOBER and APRIL SHOWERS promotions and as one of our personal shoppers. She is prayerful in all things which brings honor to our friends she serves in those roles. God has blessed Liberty Ministry with Nikki's gracious service.

Here's Nikki's own words describing her volunteer experience...

I began working with Liberty Ministry about four years ago as a personal shopper. I love the idea of creating a safe, cozy, comfortable home for our friends who have not had the best living situations in the past. Homemaking has been a passion of mine since my husband and I lived in our first home together, a tiny one-bedroom apartment many years ago. I carefully choose each item that I bring into our home, and I also do that with every item that I choose for our Liberty friends. I want them to feel cared for and proud of their surroundings. I hope and pray that when they walk into their new spaces, they feel the love and intention that each person on the team has worked hard to provide!

About two years ago, Liberty Ministry asked me to chair the SOCTOBER and APRIL SHOWERS promotions for new socks and new towels. I never really thought about how nice it is to put on a clean, soft pair of new socks or how great a new fluffy towel feels. Collecting these items for our friends has made me think about them in a different way. I hadn't thought about how the shelters aren't supplied with towels for each person that comes through the door. Can you imagine coming into a place to bathe for the first time in a while and having to dry off with a stained, threadbare towel? And then after getting cleaned up.... you put on whatever socks you have even if they're dirty and worn out. I get very excited when the socks and towels start pouring in! I literally have my hands on almost every item counting and sorting them which means I get to say a little prayer that each one provides warmth and joy and the love of Jesus to people who receive them.

It has been a blessing to me to be able to provide these small services which hopefully end up being large blessings to all of those friends who have the kitchen and bathroom supplies they need as well as a few pairs of warm socks in the Winter or a nice fresh towel in the Spring....and that somehow, they see that all of these things happened for them because of the love of our Lord Jesus!

SOCTOBER IS BACK!!! 5000 pair is our goal this year. Let's bless our friends experiencing homelessness with this simple necessity.
