Happy first day of spring! πŸͺ»β˜€οΈ As you start turning your sprinkler systems back on, consider participating in the Upper Trinity Regional Water District's (UTRWD) free Irrigation System Check-Up Program. As part of the program, a licensed irrigator will schedule a one-hour, free check-up to make sure your system is functioning properly and efficiently. To learn more and request an irrigation check-up, visit www.utrwd.com/water-less-yall.

Speaking of sprinklers, we have an important update to share on the Town’s watering restrictions. The Town now operates under an updated Long-Term Water Conservation Plan, which includes the following restrictions related to irrigation:

πŸ’§ No outdoor watering with automatic irrigation systems or hose-end sprinklers between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

πŸ’§ Outdoor irrigation with automatic systems or hose-end sprinklers must be limited to watering two days per week. Here’s the watering schedule:

🌱 Residential addresses ending in an even number can water on Tuesday and Friday.

🌱 Residential addresses ending in an odd number can water on Wednesday and Saturday.

🌱 All non-residential, commercial, HOA lots and common areas, and multi-family properties can water on Monday and Thursday.

πŸ’§ Irrigation of landscaped areas and building foundations is permitted at any time if it is by means of a hand-held hose, faucet-filled bucket, drip irrigation, or soaker hose systems.

As summer and the hottest months of the year approach, the Town may enter its Emergency Water Demand Management Plan – based on drought or water storage and pumping conditions – triggering further restrictions. If that happens, we’ll let you know here and at www.flowermound.gov/waterconservation.

FYI

Due to a lack of rain and continued high temperatures, the Upper Trinity Regional Water District (UTRWD) is seeing record-high water use among its customers, including in Flower Mound. The district has been in Stage 1 of its Drought Contingency Plan since last summer, but water usage is higher now than this time last year. Additionally, we want to remind you that the Town is still in stage 2 of its Emergency Water Demand Management Plan. The following restrictions are currently in place for all residences and businesses:

πŸ’§ Watering lawns and gardens between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. is prohibited.

πŸ’§ Outdoor watering with automatic systems or hose-end sprinklers is limited to no more than twice a week.

πŸ’§ Residences and businesses with street addresses ending in an even number can water on Sundays and Thursdays.

πŸ’§ Residences and businesses with street addresses ending in an odd number can water on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

πŸ’§ Residents may refill swimming pools on their designated watering days.

πŸ’§ Watering by means of a hand-held hose, bucket, or drip irrigation is allowed at any time.

πŸ’§ Residents on well water are exempt from these restrictions.

The Town is also doing its part to reduce water usage by reducing the frequency of vehicle washing by 50 percent, continuing intensified leak detection and repair activities on waterlines, and reducing irrigation to two days per week. Town facilities and parks will be watered on the two days that correspond to their street address, and Town medians and green spaces will be watered on Tuesdays and Fridays.

To learn more about the restrictions above and best practices when it comes to outdoor watering, visit www.flower-mound.com/waterconservation. To report a possible watering violation, please fill out the form at www.flower-mound.com/waterless.

Friends and Neighbors,

With the freezing temps tonight, please don't forget to:

1. Turn off your sprinklers.
2. Cover outdoor faucets.
3. Set a faucet to drip indoors to avoid freezing pipes.

And if ANYONE in our community need help, please reach out to the community or to our board.
