Why am I sharing this story from July 2022? Because I want to beat a drum loudly and consistently: Kindness inspires kindness.
I took my 11-year-old son to the high Andes not just so he could help me, but so he could feel what it feels like to lift someone else up. My deepest wish is that by showing him acts of intentional empathy, I will inspire him to one day create his own ripple effects of good in this world.

In October 2022, my journey in Uganda brought me to a local rock quarry. It was a stark reminder of the global need for accessible education.
The women working there are incredibly resilient, working hard under tough conditions to provide for their families. Seeing their determination only strengthened our conviction: by bringing accessible, free education to these communities, we can unlock new skills, create better economic options, and one day permanently break the cycle of poverty. Education is where the transition begins! 🌟🇺🇬

You can't change a community from an office across the ocean. You do it by finding the people who are already fighting the good fight on the ground, and standing right beside them.
In October 2022, I had the privilege of meeting the individuals who would become our most trusted partners in Uganda. Today, they aren't just contacts on a spreadsheet, they are key partners of our entire East African operation. True kindness means checking your ego at the door, practicing curiosity about local needs, and building genuine, equitable partnerships.

Exhausted, zapped, but incredibly fulfilled. 😮‍💨🏔️
Back in July 2022, I hadn’t yet adapted to working at high altitudes. By midday, the elevation would completely drain my energy, leaving me fighting just to wake up and do it again the next day. (Fast forward to today, and it’s a total habit!)
Riding back from the villages with my son Alex, tired but quiet, we felt the weight of what we had just experienced. It was tough physical work, but our hearts were completely full. Giving back takes effort, but the return on investment is eternal.

We have exciting news to share with our Dear Future family. 🌍✨

We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Future Wings Foundation, led by the incredible Alisa Adams, to bring school materials to children in Zimbabwe who need them the most.

Every child deserves the chance to learn, to grow, and to dream and sometimes, all it takes is a pencil, a notebook, and someone who believes in them. That's what this is about.

Through this collaboration, we will be launching a fundraising campaign to put essential school supplies directly into the hands of children who would otherwise go without. And every single dollar raised goes toward making that happen.

Hard work is something the mothers in rural Uganda understand deeply. Because of limited educational opportunities in their own childhoods, many are restricted to manual labor like turning stone into gravel.
But where the world sees a limitation, we see an open door for transformation. We are deeply motivated to continue our work because we know that when you introduce literacy and foundational schooling, you hand a community the ultimate tool for self-determination. Every child in a classroom is a step toward a brighter, self-sustaining future. 📚✨

It has been years since 2022, that pivotal year in my life where I learned to love, to be curious and to move the needle; but the fire that was set inside me in Uganda hasn't dimmed for a single second.
It all traces back to the moment we chose to stop being passive observers and start asking the hard questions: What can I do? What if I actually do something?

Rich in Grace.
There is a profound difference between economic poverty and poverty of the soul.
The communities I have spent time with in Uganda, Peru and Guatemala may have been living on the fringes of financial insecurity, but they are among the wealthiest people I have ever met; rich in love, joy, and grace. 🌟
They taught me that curiosity shouldn’t lead with pity; it should lead with respect. They didn’t need us to save them; they needed us to partner with them to unlock the doors to the future their children deserve.

To reach the schools of San Isidro de Visag and Yanayacu, we had to climb. And I mean climb. July 2022 was our first time tackling these roads, one-lane, unpaved, zig-zagging straight up into the clouds. One wrong move and it was a sheer drop down. 🏔️🚗
Along the way, the local lifestyle unfolded right in front of us, like this woman casually leading her cattle down the mountain road. It took us an hour and a half of intense driving just to get there. It was terrifying and beautiful all at once. But the children waiting at the top made every single unpaved mile worth it.
