🌐 Honored to Be Part of the Cook County Digital Equity IMPACT Cohort!

Partnership for Resilience (P4R) is proud to be one of 22 organizations selected for the Cook County Digital Equity IMPACT Cohort, a grant-funded initiative working to expand internet access and build digital literacy across Cook County.

Internet access and digital skills open doors. We are glad to be part of the cohort working to make sure those doors are open for Southland families, too. 💻

Congratulations to all of our fellow IMPACT Cohort members.

🎉 We are so proud!

The Southland Parent Mentor Team and Southland Whole Child Program recently completed Phase 2 of the Community Organizing and Family Issues (COFI) training — and we have the certifications to prove it!

Phase 2 — Community Outreach & Action — equips our team with the tools to build powerful parent teams, lead one-on-one relationship building, and drive real, tangible change in our schools and communities. This is community work for the community, by the community, deepening our shared commitment to Southland families.

Congratulations to our newly certified team members:

📌 Southland Parent Mentor Coordinators: Delores, Evelyn, Isabel, Rhonda
📌 Southland Parent Mentor Organizer: Krystal Hutton
📌 Southland Whole Child Program Organizer: Destiny Kelly

A heartfelt thank you to the COFI Center for Action and Learning for a transformative learning experience that continues to deepen our practice and strengthen our community.

We are building something powerful here in the Southland...one relationship, one family, one community at a time. 💙

We’re excited to host a virtual author talk with Kristin Van Marter Souers, co-author of Relationship, Responsibility, and Regulation.

Kristin will share insight into trauma-invested schools, the New 3 R’s (Relationship, Responsibility, and Regulation), Systems of Meaning, and what it truly looks like to move from reactive discipline to relationship-centered practice.

This one-hour conversation is open to anyone interested in building safer, more connected learning communities. Whether you’re an educator, school leader, community partner, or simply passionate about supporting young people, you are welcome.

There’s still time to register — and I’d truly love to have you in the room. 💜

If you’ve ever driven home replaying a student conversation…
If you’ve felt emotionally heavy but kept showing up anyway…
If you’ve thought, “I care so much, but I’m tired”…

This session is for you.

In Caring Without Carrying, we’re going to gently unpack:
✨ Why caring can start to feel heavy
✨ The difference between secondary trauma, compassion fatigue, and burnout
✨ What boundaries actually are (hint: they’re not selfish)
✨ How to protect your capacity without caring less

This isn’t a lecture.
It’s reflective. Practical. Grounded in real school experiences.
And it’s a space where you don’t have to pretend you’re not tired.

If you’re feeling even a little curious — or a little worn down — come join us.

Educators pour their energy into supporting students who have experienced adversity — but without awareness and tools, that caring can come at a personal cost. This session helps participants recognize the signs of secondary traumatic stress, vicarious trauma, and compassion fatigue, and how these...

💛 Celebrating Our Incredible Southland Parent Mentors 💛

Last week, we had the joy of celebrating our amazing Southland parent mentors — the caring adults who show up, build bridges, and strengthen school communities every single day!

King Elementary
Students and teachers created and signed heartfelt appreciation notes for parent mentors to proudly display in their classrooms. The celebration continued with a special treat as mentors received delicious popcorn from Double Good.

Franklin Elementary School
School spirit and appreciation were in full swing with a fun Hat Day followed by a cozy Pajama Day to celebrate the mentors who give so much to students and families.

Lincoln Early Learning Center
Mentors took time to “Refresh Their Day” with a creative craft session, painting and designing their own custom tumblers.

We are grateful for our Southland parent mentors and the partnership they bring to our schools and communities. Your presence makes a difference, and we celebrate you!

🍎 Celebrating our incredible Parent Mentors! 🍎

From February 9th through February 13th, we are proud to celebrate Parent Mentor Appreciation Week!

Parent Mentors are the heart of our school community. They serve as "extra eyes, ears, and hands" in the classroom, volunteering their time to:

- Support Students: Providing one-on-one attention to help children overcome academic challenges and build confidence.
- Assist Teachers: Partnering with educators to handle small group activities and daily classroom tasks.
- Strengthen Communities: Bridging the gap between home and school, helping families navigate the education system, and acting as local leaders.
Whether they are helping a student solve a tough math problem or guiding a family through school resources, our Parent Mentors are true change agents. They invest in themselves and our future leaders every single day.

Join us this week in saying a huge THANK YOU to these dedicated volunteers! 💙✨

Last month, Partnership for Resilience was honored to receive Certificates of Appreciation from the Harvey Neighborhood Network, recognizing the work of our Executive Director, Kristine Argue-Mason, and Southland Project Organizer, Destiny Kelly.

This recognition reflects the collective work underway to establish a Children’s Cabinet—a collaborative effort focused on building stronger, more connected supports for Harvey students and families.

We’re deeply grateful to our partners and community members who continue to walk alongside us in this important work. 💛✨
