THANK YOU for your support this Women Veterans Recognition Day, which raised $460 for the Wall of Honor project as part of our "$19.48 Campaign." Onward!

We'd love your support on Women Veterans Recognition Day! The site is marked, materials are ordered, and the Veterans' Wall of Honor will be beautiful when done later this year! Gratefully accepting your $19.48 donations: http://flossmoorvets.square.site

Update: We've got 11 people who've generously donated $19.48 for Women Veterans' Recognition Day today! The day commemorates the anniversary of the Women's Armed Services Integration Act, signed into law by President Harry S. Truman on June 12, 1948, which officially allowed women to serve as permanent, regular members of the U.S. Armed Forces.

On June 6, 1944, the Allied invasion of Normandy began. Three known servicemen from Flossmoor are honored and remembered today for their heroism during that historic event--understanding that freedom is never free.
*Private James Vincent Mitchell, Army. He was held by the N***s for six months in a POW hospital--and was forced to walk to another hospital as the Allies closed in on the last weeks of Hitler's grip on Western Europe;
*Sergeant Scott Alan Rhind, Army: The son of Flossmoor Community Church Pastor John Gray Rhind, he was missing in action twice and reported KIA in France in August 1944; and
*Private John C. Woodrich, Army: He was killed at the Battle of St. Lo in July 1944.
A grateful community thanks you for your service.
