Jaaleyah Burns is a graduate of Wilson High School in Florence, South Carolina. Throughout high school, she stayed involved in leadership, academics, athletics, and service. She also served as Varsity Cheer Captain, FBLA Vice President, Beta Club Vice President, and FFA Treasurer. Jaaleyah was also a member of the National Honor Society, Varsity Soccer team, and Tiger Production.

Serving her community has always been important to her. Jaaleyah has volunteered at Lucky Dog Animal Shelter, where she helped care for animals and gained valuable experience working with them. She has also volunteered at youth cheer camps and participated in FBLA community service projects, including helping provide food to individuals experiencing homelessness.

This fall, Jaaleyah will be attending North Carolina A&T State University to major in Animal Science. Her dream is to become a veterinarian and eventually open her own veterinary practice so she can provide compassionate, high-quality care for animals while giving back to her community.

2026 P*e Dee NPHC Scholarship Winner
Jalaya Hudley is the daughter of Isiah and Jamila Hudley and the Valedictorian of the Cheraw High School Class of 2026 with an exceptional 5.09 GPA.
Jalaya earned Associate Degrees in Arts and Science with High Honors from USC Lancaster before graduating high school. She was recognized nationally as a National Beta Club Top 100 Finalist, selected from more than 4,900 applicants nationwide, and maintained All A's throughout all four years of high school.
Jalaya served as Senior Class President, Co-President of Beta Club, and Vice President of HOSA. As a freshman, she was crowned Miss Brave 2023, Cheraw High School's annual pageant. She was Homecoming Queen 2025 and Prom Queen 2026 and received the prestigious 2025-2026 Cheraw High School Brave Award, the highest honor bestowed upon a student.
Jalaya has also made a lasting impact through community service, volunteering with the local recreation department as a youth softball umpire and assisting with community center events including senior citizens bingo nights, teen center activities, and the town’s children's New Year's Eve and Fourth of July celebrations.
Jalaya was named Cheraw High School Volleyball Varsity MVP multiple times, Region AA All-Conference Volleyball Player, District Female Athlete of the Year, and became the first Cheraw High School volleyball player selected to compete on the North-South All-Star Volleyball Team. She was also awarded the DeBerry Most All-Around Student Athlete Award and Scholarship.
This fall, Jalaya will attend the University of South Carolina Honors College, where she plans to major in Public Health as she pursues her dream of becoming a dermatologist.
Jalaya’s favorite quote is by Lauren Hill, "Without the power of God behind everything I do, I really am completely inadequate." This quote reminds Jalaya to remain humble, trust God’s guidance, and recognize that every achievement is possible because of His strength and grace. It serves as a foundation for the way she approaches academics, leadership, service, and her future career goals.
As Jalaya begins her next chapter, she is committed to pursuing excellence in her education while using her talents and opportunities to serve others. She is grateful for the support of scholarship donors who invest in students like her and help make higher education possible.

2026 P*e Dee NPHC Scholarship Winner
Morie Salters is recent graduate of Kingstree High School. Throughout high school, she remained committed to academic excellence, leadership, and service. She served as President of Phi Theta Kappa, vice president of Beta club, Historian for FBLA, and participated in track and field while also completing dual enrollment courses through Williamsburg Technical College. In addition to her academic achievements, she completed cosmetology training and earned my braiding license, further developing my skills in professionalism, creativity, and entrepreneurship.

Morie is passionate about giving back to her community through service and leadership opportunities that create a positive impact on others. Serving in her community has taught her the importance of hard work, compassion, and uplifting those around me.

This fall, Morie will attend South Carolina State University to major in Agribusiness. She looks forward to using her education to make a difference in agriculture, business, and her community. Morie’s favorite quote is “you must believe to achieve.”
