Heat Exhaustion vs Heat Stroke. With the summer months upon us, it's important for reenactors to be aware of what your body is going through in the heat! Always remember to keep yourself, hydrated, don't over-extend yourself, and keep an eye on your Pards!

Have you ever considered getting into Reenacting or Living History, but are not sure about the cost? Remember groups like ours are here to help you get started with a good entry grade progressive impression that won't break the bank account! Remember - "Expensive does not always equal Authentic" & "Close Enough is not Good Enough!"

When starting out don't go rushing out and buying the first thing you see. Find a good unit, talk with them about what you might need, where to get it - alot of units (like ours) have loaner kit you can use when first starting out.

The image included gives a rough idea of just some of the equipment for a very basic Confederate impression and the ball park prices and vendors that are out there! Remember, Confederate impressions do have a lot more nuance to them and varied from area to area; so this is simply to give an idea of what to expect cost wise. For more information and a guide on what is out there feel free to check out the "What to Get and Where to Get it" Section of our company website - https://www.palmettoriflemen.org/HowTo_01.html

On behalf of myself (Kenneth Robison) I would like to personally thank all of our Participants (Reenactors, Vendors & living history presenters) and our visitors for joining us for the 2026 Skirmish at Gamble's Hotel. We hope that everyone enjoyed the event, and that all of you returned home safely.

I would also like to personally thank the members and friends of the Palmetto Riflemen who stepped up to help make this event a success; without their assistance, dedication and willingness to meet every call for help, the event would not have been possible. From helping police the camps, gathering the garbage, building breastworks, checking on the port-o-lets, running our entrance gate, helping to run spectators lines, putting out signs, etc. None of this would have been possible.
