The final evening of the Oregon State Ambassador’s Conference did not disappoint. It was filled with high spirts, wonderful food and a sharing of the many past conferences and the excitement of conferences to come. Guest speakers tonight was Bob Sneddon who shared the history of the Florence Rhododendron Festival, followed by Tab Davis from Springfield who will be hosting the 2027 Oregon Ambassador Conference and some of the exciting events they have planned. A beautiful display of bonsai Rhododendrons by the Siuslaw Chapter of the Rhododendron Society. The remainder of the evening was enjoying a scrumptious meal prepared by one of our amazing sponsors, Three Rivers Casino, more gift baskets, a lot of fun. Day 3 of the Oregon State Ambassador’s Conference being held in Florence, Oregon. Today we reconvened at the Three Rivers Casino where enjoyed a continental breakfast and more of those great cookies provided by the Florence Ambassadors. The meeting was called to order by Mike Bones and was quickly followed by the ringing bell announcing time for more drawings for beautiful gift baskets of goodies that represented each of the participating cities across Oregon. We then welcomed our first guest speaker Doug Duchscher who shared the history of the Florence Area sand dunes. Our next speaker was our very own Bettina Hannigan who spoke of the goals, challenges and accomplishments of the Florence Chamber of Commerce. After a short break we welcomed our next speaker Patty Godwin who spoke of the fun and pleasures of kayaking that can be experienced in the many lakes and waterways of Oregon. She demonstrated the unique communication signals used in the kayaking world. Our next speaker, David Edge, covered the fun of sand boarding on the Florence Sand Dunes. He spoke to the international notoriety of the Florence Sand Dunes and the uniqueness of the sand that makes sand boarding so unique compared to snow boarding and covered the various types of sand boards depending on boarding style. Last but certainly not least, Mike Bones spoke of the many varieties of rhododendrons that make Florence the City of Rhododendrons. We continued to have more drawings for those amazing baskets through out the morning. We broke for a free afternoon to explore Oregon’s Coastal Playground. After an amazing morning of speakers and gift baskets, everyone was given time to explore Florence, visit the Sea Lion Caves, go on a Sand Buggy ride, walk on the beach, eat and shop in Old Town. Great reviews on several of our wonderful restaurants, Hukilau, ICM, Restobar and Beachcomber just to name a few. Our Ambassadors were busy decorating the tables for an amazing dinner prepared by the Driftwood Shores staff. Dinner was followed by our guest speaker from the Coast Guard followed by multiple rounds of gift basket drawings. A great big shoutout to the staff at Driftwood Shores, they were all amazing and we thank them for their wonderful service and amazing food!

DAY 2 of the Oregon State Ambassador’s Conference being held here in fabulous Florence, Oregon at the beautiful Driftwood Shores Hotel Resort. The morning started with a wonderful selection of breakfast items and an amazing homemade cookie selection as Ambassadors from across the state mingled and visited with old friends and new. We then settled down and heard from our various sponsors and speakers on a variety of subjects. The meeting opened with our Florence Mayor, Rob Ward, followed by Florence Ambassador President, Mike Bones,
Paul Gonsalves from Banner Bank, one of our amazing sponsors, who talked about the importance of community involvement and support. We then had Kim Duchscher from Sandland Adventures, followed by Detective Hailey C***s from the Florence Police Department who spoke about counterfeit money and how to protect our businesses. Terry Hankins from Driftwood Shores, another one of our wonderful sponsors, shared their community involvement through many special events that are held there as well as things they have done to make our beach more accessible for those with mobility issues.
Springfield will be hosting the 2027 Conference and Tab Davis gave us a preview of the exciting plans they have for next year’s conference.
Last but not least, gift baskets were awarded through out the morning.

Oh what an amazing evening we had in a joint Business After Hours at the Three Rivers Casino partnering with Florence Area Ambassadors. Over 100 attendees, the food was amazing, plenty for everyone. A great opportunity for visiting and catching up with old friends and making new friends as we welcomed Oregon Ambassadors from across the state. Just a few pictures of the great time we all had.
