When I'm in the community, I always recognize and thank so many wonderful people that served, and in all branches of service. Yesterday evening was truly special as I was able to share a wonderful moment in time with Airborne Rangers. As a tactical airlifter, the spirit of you call, we haul, anytime, any place, was very strong and so true. I have so many wonderful memories of transporting Airborne Rangers to and airdroping them on many drop zones all over the world. Though I was Air Force, the transporter, these Army guys, warriors, were the mission...to deliver them safely on time and target so they, Airborne Infantry can do what they do and that they do so good. We in the Airlift and Airborne community share a very close bond. To each of you thank you for our brotherhood, conversation, and bond...Green Light!

Celebrating Independence Day, Thursday 4 July, noon to 5 pm at the Florence American Legion Post 1 BBQ. We look forward to fellowship and friendship with members, Veterans, family and friends. We are kid friendly, so you can bring your little ones too. There is no charge for entrance, the meal, desserts, beverages, and the live music performed by a husband and wife duo...The Bandits! Meal begins at noon, and at 2:30 pm we will have the Swamp Fox Quilters perform a Quilt of Valor Ceremony. We welcome you to celebrate Independence Day at Post 1. See you soon!

Vets, many of them centenarians and likely returning for one last time, pilgrimaged to what was the bloodiest of five Allied landings on June 6, 1944.

May is Military Appreciation Month! This Saturday, 25 May, 1pm to 5 pm we will hold a BBQ and a super live band (No Fund Allowed Band). We welcome and honor all service members, active duty, Guard, Reserve, Veterans, family and friends to participate and celebrate our service, fellowship and friendship. There is no cost for this event, and we truly hope to see you, especially our younger service members and veterans to participate in this event. If you need additional information, contact the Post 1 Commander, Johnny at Cell: 954-740-2027.
We also hope to see many in our community participate in the Memorial Day Ceremony at our Florence National Cemetery on Monday, 27 May at 10AM.

Saturday May 25th from 1pm to 5pm your Florence American Legion Post 1 will hold a BBQ to Celebrate Military Appreciation Month...this includes our wonderful veterans in our community! Food and non alcoholic beverages will be no charge. Live Music will be performed by The No Fun Allowed Band! We look forward to all that serve, or have served to celebrate our fellowship and friendship!

Looking forward to celebrating Armed Forces Day at the Florence American Legion Post 1 Military Ball, Saturday 18 May, 6 to 10 pm. Post 1 will be decorated very formal with linens, table settings, and chair covers. Our meal will be catered, and we will have the Blue Knight Band perform for the dance. Admission is $15. We look forward to seeing you and celebrating service, fellowship and friendship!
