We have some brutal cold and potential winter weather approaching our area this weekend 🥶
Please be aware of the resources we have in the Shoals area to assist our unhoused friends!
This is a listing of shelters and warming centers that we have as of now🙌🏻

Please call 211 Information and Referral of Northwest Alabama for up to date information as well! 🤗

👉🏻LAUDERDALE COUNTY

🩵 Shoals Shelter
-Meet at the Help Center 4:30pm-5:30pm.
-Address for pickup: 621 S Court Street, Florence.
-The bus will leave for the overnight shelter by 5:45pm.
-A meal and shelter is provided.
-Open January 20 - January 29, additonal nights TBD.
*****Shoals Shelter will be open for NIGHTTIME shelter Jan 21-29. They will be open for DAYTIME shelter during the winter storm all weekend, Friday night thru Sunday evening. FOR THE WEEKEND-come to the Help Center on Friday between 4:30 and 5:30, and guests will then be hosted all weekend. There will be NO INTAKE on Saturday or Sunday, due to weather conditions. If a guest wants to stay the weekend, they must come to checkin on Friday.*****

💛 The Salvation Army of the Shoals
-Check in for overnight shelter is 5:00pm.

-A meal and shelter is provided.

💙Southern Legacy Assembly
-Daytime Warming Center
-Address: 116 S Royal Ave, Florence.
-Shelter is provided.
-Open Jan 24 and Jan 25, as a day shelter.

🧡York Bluff Baptist Church
-Address: 301 N Atlanta Ave, Sheffield.
-Hours and days of operation will be determined based on EMS guidance.

💚Cherokee Community Storm Shelter
-Day and Night Warming Center.
-Addresss: 1211 2nd Street, Cherokee.
-Cots, blankets, and shelter provided.
-Open Jan 20 until temps are above 40 degrees.

🩵One Heart Church
-Address: 719 Michigan Ave, Muscle Shoals
-Shelter, food, water, showers, washer and dryer provided.
-Open Jan 23 at 2pm - Jan 25 at 9am

💜 Town of Leighton
-Day and Night Warming Center at Leighton Storm Shelter.
-Address: 8856 Main Street, Leighton.
-Shelter provided.
-Food and supplies are not provided.
-Open Jan 20 until temps are above freezing.

Florence Christmas parade route. Plan accordingly and dress warm!

🎄 CHRISTMAS PARADE TRAFFIC 🎄
The Christmas Parade is happening TONIGHT at 7 PM, and we’re getting everything ready for a safe and magical evening in Downtown Florence!

🚧 Road closures begin at 5 PM — If you can avoid Pine St. altogether, you might just win yourself a stress-free holiday prize (the prize is peace and sanity). 🎁😉

Here’s the official detour for southbound Pine St. starting at 5 PM:
➡️ Turn RIGHT onto W. Irvine St.
⬅️ Turn LEFT onto Cedar St.
⬆️ Continue straight to E. College St.

🅿️ Parking Deck:
It WILL be open, but you must enter from Pine St. Beginning at 5 p.m., Cost is FREE, except for said sanity. 🤣

📱 Detours? No Problem!
Good news —we’ve submitted all road closures, so your GPS will reroute you automatically. Just set it before you start driving… because nothing says “holiday spirit” like not driving distracted. 👍

Detour signs will be posted, and officers will be in the area to help keep everything moving as smoothly as possible.

One last chance to sign up for Toys for Tots. This Saturday, December 13, at Deibert Park, 2801 Darby Drive, Florence, by the barn, from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. Bring your photo ID, and birth certificates and SSNs for your children. This is it before we head to the North Pole to help Santa! While you are here, you can see Santa Manning for a picture and see exhibits by the Florence Police.

So let's not blow smoke up eachothers ass here .. yeah, the goal is full sobriety. 100% clean and sober. Ya okay I get that.
BUTTTTT… let me also say this as loud and clear as I can: I'm not here to judge your journey. Some people take different roads than others to get where they need to be and that's ok

Lets say
You kicked he**in but still need Suboxone?
Respect. It's your journey

You gave the bo**er sugar but still smoke a little green sometimes? Alright.

You were strung out on m**h for a decade and now you have a beer at a barbecue with your boys?
Man... that sounds like progress to me.

This isn't about perfection, it's about growth.

It's about showing up for your kids when you used to disappear for days. It's about being present for your family when you used to be a ghost in your own house. It's about becoming someone you're actually proud of when you look in the mirror.

You don't owe anyone a polished version of recovery. You don't have to do it the way others did.
You just have to keep showing up. Keep doing better. Keep becoming more of the person this world, and your people, need you to be.

Whatever your recovery looks like, | see you.
I support you.
