Florence-Food Share

A big thank you to Johnston Motor Co. for hosting a food drive that brought in four hundred and eighty eight pounds of food, for Florence Food Share. Lately our shelves have been running pretty bare and efforts like this truly help fill them back up for the families who count on us. If you wanna help, you can bring donations to our building or drop them at any of the many donation sites around town. Every bit makes a difference.

A HUGE thank you to EVERYONE who helped make tonight’s Florence Feud fundraiser such a success!

It was especially wonderful to have Florence Food Share Executive Director Colin Morgan, Kristen, and their newest little family member, baby Elias, join us for the evening. We were so happy to celebrate a successful night with this very special new family in attendance!

Thank you to our sponsors: Rotary Club of Florence, Oregon, Siuslaw Consulting, and Lis & Jeff Farm. And a special shoutout to Three Rivers Casino Resort; your support was instrumental in making this a special end-of-summer fun night! Thank you to Oregon Pacific Bank for setting us up and volunteering as cashiers. The money raised stays in Florence to help those in need, and it means so much to us! Mike Bones, you crushed it as Emcee once again!

CONGRATULATIONS to the Beach Boys of the Rotary Club of Florence, Oregon, on the win. And truly, thank you to all the contestants, especially those who stepped up at the last minute!

Florence Food Share Invites Artists to Create Signature Piece for Empty Bowls 2026

Florence Food Share is seeking a local artist to create the featured artwork for the 30th Annual Empty Bowls fundraiser, taking place the first weekend of December.

For more than a decade, an original work by a local artist has been the centerpiece of the Empty Bowls poster and is later raffled off during the event to help raise additional funds for Florence Food Share. This special tradition celebrates local creativity while supporting the organization's mission of ensuring no one in our community goes hungry.

Artists working in any medium are encouraged to submit a concept, provided the finished piece can be professionally photographed for promotional materials and donated to Florence Food Share. The artwork should capture the spirit of Empty Bowls and reflect the event's message: "Because no one should go hungry."

The selected artist will be recognized in event marketing and media coverage and will receive a tax deduction for the donated artwork.

To be considered, artists should email a brief description of their concept, the intended medium, and a photo of a previous work to Kim Pickell at [email protected]. The submission deadline is September 4, 2026, and the completed artwork is due October 2, 2026.

VOLUNTEER GLEANERS NEEDED TOMORROW— LET’S GO PICK SOME FRUIT!

Florence Food Share has a wonderful opportunity to gather fresh, locally grown fruit for our neighbors — but we need some helping hands!

We’re looking for volunteers to help us glean plums, apples, and pears from a local orchard. Come spend an afternoon outdoors, pick some beautiful fresh fruit, and help Florence Food Share make sure this wonderful local harvest doesn’t go to waste.

You do NOT need to be a current Florence Food Share volunteer to join us. Friends, families, and community members are all welcome!

We will meet at the Florence Food Share parking lot at 1:50pm Thursday, August 20th, and leave for the orchard at approximately 2:00 p.m. The orchard is in Tiernan, about a 10-minute drive away.

Many hands make light work — and every piece of fruit picked can help feed a neighbor!

Interested in joining us? Comment below or contact Florence Food Share for more information at 541-997-9110.

Thank you, Northwest Bronco Round-up. This past Saturday, we were able to collect 3,495 lbs of food thanks to your members!

We’re excited for this weekend!

The Northwest Bronco Roundup rolls into Florence this week, and the Show & Shine will be Saturday, August 15 at 10 a.m. — and this year, it’s at a NEW location: Siuslaw High School!

Florence Food Share distributes approximately 800,000 pounds of food each year, helping serve an estimated 3,000 members of our community.

And our friends at the Northwest Bronco Roundup have been an incredible part of that mission! Since partnering with Florence Food Share in 2011, the event has helped collect an amazing 52,362 pounds of food. Last year alone, the Northwest Bronco Roundup donated 5,550 pounds!

We are so grateful for their continued generosity and support.

Come out Saturday, check out some amazing Broncos, and support a great cause!
