The state of South Carolina is home to a substantial number of medically fragile children. This population of our youth requires skilled nursing intervention, and multiple forms of supportive therapy on a daily basis. Due to the fact that a growing number of families are either unwilling or unable to care for these children, they are being placed in hospital's Pediatric ICUs or therapeutic foster
homes. Many times these homes may hold up to 5 medically fragile children because the need is so great. At present, South Carolina does not have a children’s home equipped to care for this these young people. Our plan is to create a long-term care facility that provides skilled nursing and therapies for medically fragile children in South Carolina. Our facility would provide holistic care, meeting the medical needs of these precious children, but also rendering the emotional support of a loving home. Children at Heaven’s Hope would receive all their therapy needs there, including, but not limited to physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. Heaven’s Hope would also host an on-site school that individualizes its curriculum to meet the unique needs and learning abilities of each child. At this time, all three of these needs are great and are not being met in our state. We have many expenses due to the fact we are pioneering the first medically fragile children’s home in the state of South Carolina. We are currently working with DSS and the medically fragile program at the state level to establish the magnitude of care necessary to meet the need across our state. Our current need is financial support for the initial start of our home. This need encompasses, but is not limited to, application fees for licensing, marketing, establishing the building (new or existing structure), customizing the building to meet state regulations and children’s needs, legal necessities, such as creating and writing policy, and coverage for executive & staff positions. Extended financial support will also have to be established for the maintenance and growing needs of the home. Welcome to our Adventure!
