Congratulations to ECCF’s President, Lexie Calhoun, on presenting her research abstract at Florida Physical Therapy Association’s Annual Conference!

Lexie’s research abstract focuses on children with Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH) with the potential long-term impacts of their NICU journey, along with which physical therapy interventions give them the best outcomes. As a passionate advocate for CDH families and a future pediatric physical therapist, this work is especially meaningful to her.

We are so proud of her dedication to advancing future research, raising awareness, and advocating for improved outcomes for children with CDH—not only during their time in the NICU, but throughout their lives.

Special thanks to her classmates, Abbey Miskell and Alee McClendon, for their contributions and to the Baylor University DPT professors for assisting along the way.

It’s our beautiful Eden’s 4th birthday today. 🤍

Her entrance into this world changed our lives in more ways than we could have ever imagined. Although our time with her was far too short, her life continues to make an incredible impact. Through her charity, Eden has touched countless families and helped ease the burden of their own CDH journeys. Her legacy continues to grow in ways we never could have imagined.

We miss and love our girl more than words could ever express, and certainly more than a social media post could ever capture. But today, more than anything, we are grateful. Grateful for the 27 precious days we were given with her, grateful for the beautiful purpose her life continues to have, and grateful for the promise that this is not goodbye forever.

We have the comfort and hope of knowing that one day we will see our sweet Eden again and be reunited in Heaven. Until then, we will continue to love her, honor her, and carry her with us in everything we do.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support this mission so we can continue to share her story, her name, and help so many families.

We don't just support families after they relocate—we're here from the very beginning. Our Consultation Grants help ease the financial burden of traveling to meet with specialists so families can make informed decisions about where their baby will receive life-saving care.

We are honored to share the new logo for the Eden Calhoun Charitable Fund, now updated as our profile picture (thanks to our board member Thayer Riggs)! This design reflects both our mission and the legacy of our Eden Jeanette Calhoun, in whose honor this organization was created.

The aster, Eden’s September birth flower, has long symbolized love, wisdom, patience, beauty, faith, friendship, and purity. These meanings feel deeply personal to our family and our mission:

✨ Love — Our love for Eden is infinite and continues to fuel the work we do each day through this charity.
✨ Patience — Though we wish she were here with us, we carry patience as we continue living fully and serving others until we are reunited with her.
✨ Wisdom — In her 27 days, Eden taught us more about strength, purpose, and love than we ever thought possible.
✨ Beauty — Eden’s beauty, both in appearance and in spirit, continues to radiate and touch lives far beyond her time here.
✨ Faith — Her life deepened our faith in ways we never expected and has strengthened the faith of many who hear her story.
✨ Purity — Eden will always be pure, deeply loved, and forever cherished by all who were blessed to know her story.

As we move forward with this new logo, our mission remains the same: to provide financial assistance and support to CDH families navigating the challenges of extended medical care, including travel, housing, meals, and essential living expenses during long NICU stays.
