“Riddles” Release Concert & Celebration with James Bird

Sun Oct 11th 6:30pm - 10:00pm
The Hidden Temple

Hello friends ! This is your invitation to join us for a very special evening at The Hidden Temple; To celebrate the release of my new album “Riddles” at last ! By candlelight, I will weave the backstory of this record and follow it up with a musical live performance/storytelling experience of all the myths woven into the record !

After six years of courting, writing, performing, recording & mixing this album, it has given me so much... a living being I wish to pay homage to. This music has been my teacher, grinding me to a pulp time and time again. The many criss-crossing ancient myths of this record continue to distill and dialogue deeper with each other across the story arc of the record.

My intention of this evening is to honor all of the mythological beings who have been part of these songs... To tell their stories and the ways they have mapped onto the tapestry of my life over the last 6 years. I will ceremonially gift this music to you, so I may fully cross the threshold of the journey it took me through. Then we shall celebrate at last!

My deepest gratitude to the many communities who have supported this music for the last six years. This album truly would not exist without your love.

In Gratitude,
James

Songs of Home: A Night of Folk Song, Resilience, and Connection

Wednesday, October 7 | The Hidden Temple

Join us for an interactive concert weaving folk song, storytelling, and small-group sharing into an evening of grief, love, and connection.

In remembrance of October 7th and the ongoing genocide in Gaza and beyond, we invite you into a shared space for reflection, listening, and collective care. Through music and guided conversation, we’ll explore the places and experiences that shape our lives, the homes we carry and long for, and the losses that stay with us.

Throughout the evening, we’ll pause for small-group sharing, offering opportunities to connect with one another and reflect on questions such as:

What does place mean to you?
What does home mean to you?
What do you long for?
What have you lost?

Together, we’ll move through an evening of folk song, resilience, and connection, making space for grief alongside love, and for the possibilities of transforming the wounds that lead to war.

Come support the Pioneer Valley Shambhala Meditation Center! 🧘‍♀️

OCTOBER 3, 2026 4:00 PM — 7:00 PM

Bring a song still green on the vine. A juicy long-form granny-smith essay ripe to be shared. A poem turning like chrysanthemums toward the sun. A dark fiction parsnip buried deep underground. We want you to bring your “harvest” to this special open mic night.

Whether you’re reading, singing, performing, or a part of the supportive crowd, we encourage you to reflect on what you’re harvesting during this transition to the fall equinox. What did you sow earlier this season that you’re now reaping the benefits of? What have you lost?

The event is a fundraiser for the Pioneer Valley Shambhala Meditation Center, where we tend to ourselves and our community year-round. PVSMC is an entirely volunteer-driven nonprofit.

You’ll have the chance to make an optional donation at the door, and everyone is welcome. There will be a potluck! Feel free to bring a food or drink item to contribute. We will also have a raffle. Please arrive between 4:00 and 4:30 pm to sign up to perform, grab a seat, and settle in. The open mic will run approx 4:30 – 6:00 pm, followed by a potluck gathering until 7:00 pm.

This offering is inspired by a presentation I attended by artist, dancer and occultist Laura Tempest Zakroff, and born from the realization that I get my strongest psychic impressions when I’m moving my body.

Since then I’ve been experimenting with combining movement practices with Tarot reading and have had interesting and oftentimes stunning results. It’s been fascinating to see how movement can allow for a deepening of intuitive knowing,  AND how the movement itself changes when it’s informed by the archetypal imagery of the Tarot!

We will be experimenting with this together by exploring the Tarot through solo, partnered and small group practices in which we’ll get to play with accessing deeper levels of our intuition through movement and sense attunement. Our movements will be inspired by the archetypal images of the cards, and we will see what new insights arise when we allow these archetypes to move through our bodies.

This intro class will serve as a starting point and foundation for building a personal practice that combines divination and somatics. It is highly recommended that interested participants attend one or both of these intros before attending our class series planned for the winter!

Tarot cards will be provided, but if you have a deck that you love feel free to bring it!

Coming up this Thursday!

An invitation from Peter Leonard ~

Feet of Joy is a conscious movement practice devoted to nurturing joy through dance, singing, mindfulness, and community, born from years of dance practice.

The sixties and seventies were such an extraordinary period of creativity, and the music still sounds so fresh and alive. I’ve felt for a long time that it deserves a dedicated space to be celebrated.

This is also a place for folks moved by natural rhythms - hands on drumsticks, real people playing instruments and singing, often recording all the parts at the same time. If you’re like me and often feel overwhelmed by too many electronic beats, this could be a space for you.

We’ll open with a grounding guided meditation while the music plays and bodies stretch, move through the practice with simple instructions and maybe some live music, and close in a circle with group singing. I’d like to keep it alive and discover together what brings us joy.

We’ll be starting October 1st, 7 to 9 p.m., at The Hidden Temple in Florence.

Sliding scale cost of $15 - $25.

✨ What are you longing for clarity around? ✨

A relationship. A transition. Your work. Your body. Your path. Something you can feel but can’t quite name.

On Tuesday, September 29, we’re opening the doors of The Hidden Temple for an evening of Ommara Channeling with Jess Diamondstone.

For more than fifteen years, Jess has been working with Ommara — a group of souls she describes as a benevolent Light Being — offering guidance around personal, interpersonal, and planetary questions.

We’ll gather in sacred circle, ground together, and make space for the questions that are alive in us. Jess will then step aside and allow Ommara to speak through her.

Come curious. Come skeptical. Come with a question. Come simply to listen.
