He was an All Pro wide receiver who played in two Pro Bowls and Super Bowls. He also helped the Redskins win Super Bowl XVII in his rookie season. es. He played college football at South Carolina State University and was drafted in the 1981 NFL Draft by the Redskins. He had 220 receptions for 3,548 yards and 25 touchdowns during his NFL career and earned the nickname Downtown Charlie Brown. Charlie has coached on all three levels, including high school, collegiate and professional. Charlie is an inductee into six Football Hall of Fame organizations, including the prestigious, S.C. Athletic Hall of Fame and S.C. Football Hall of Fame. The S.C State University Athletic Hall of Fame, S.C. State Health and Physical Education Hall of Fame, S.C. State University 1976 Black College National Champions Football Team and St. John's High School Hall of Fame. In 1989, he received his certification as an educator. He was an educator over twenty years. His goal was to give back, help kids stay on the right track, and reach their dreams. His love for helping aspiring student athletes is what led him to form the Charlie Brown Foundation. The Foundation seeks to help students in underprivileged and impoverished communities. Every year, he holds free football camps, bike give always for children in need, weekly game awards to students, athletes, and mentorship opportunities for students.
