🦆 Conservation Happens Through Collaboration 🌿

Great conservation projects don’t happen alone — they happen through strong partnerships, dedicated sponsors, and a shared commitment to protecting our natural resources for future generations.

One incredible example is the Broad River Project right here in South Carolina — a collaborative effort jointly funded by Ducks Unlimited, South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, and SCANA Corporation. Projects like this showcase what can happen when conservation organizations, government agencies, private partners, and local communities come together with a common purpose.

Through strategic partnerships, Ducks Unlimited was able to leverage local funding from the South Carolina Ducks Unlimited Tag Fund to successfully secure a federal matching grant through the North American Wetlands Conservation Act (NAWCA). That means local support here in South Carolina helped unlock even greater conservation impact for wetlands, wildlife habitat, water quality, and future generations of hunters and outdoor enthusiasts.

Back in February, a truly special moment unfolded at the Santee Delta. Through a powerful collaboration between Ducks Unlimited, the South Carolina DNR, and the Andy Quattlebaum and Blackwell Family Foundation (AQBFF), we were honored to host a veterans' hunt that was about so much more than just the harvest.
While every hunter in the blinds that day shot their limit, the true impact was found in the camaraderie and the healing power of the marsh. This event perfectly highlights what can be achieved for our veterans when conservation organizations and community foundations join forces.

What a ride! 🐎 The Florence Chapter just touched down from the South Carolina Ducks Unlimited State Convention in Chester, and our hearts (and agendas) are full.
It was a weekend packed with conservation strategy, education, and some serious brainstorming with the best volunteers in the state. But it wasn't all business—we brought a little Bluegrass spirit to the Upstate! 🌹 We hosted our very own Kentucky Derby Raffle, cheering on the ponies and watching the "Run for the Roses" with our DU family.
Whether it was the Derby winner or the future of SC wetlands, we’re coming home from Chester feeling like champions. Ready to put all this inspiration to work right here in Florence!
