Western Lane Crisis Response is proud to share that three of our responders have officially joined the American Red Cross Disaster Action Team (DAT).

By becoming DAT members, our team is now able to help connect individuals and families experiencing loss from house fires and other natural disasters with quicker emergency support and resources. This partnership strengthens our ability to respond compassionately during some of the most difficult moments people may face.

The Red Cross Disaster Action Team provides immediate assistance following disasters, including emergency lodging, clothing, food, emotional support, and recovery resources. Having WLCR responders trained and connected through DAT helps improve collaboration, communication, and response times for our local community and surrounding areas.

At WLCR, we believe crisis response goes beyond behavioral health. Supporting individuals and families through trauma, loss, and unexpected emergencies is part of building a stronger, healthier, and more resilient community.

We are incredibly proud of our team members for continuing to expand their training, knowledge, and partnerships in order to better serve Western Lane County. ❤️

Every day, our Western Lane Crisis Response team steps into difficult moments with compassion, kindness, and heart. ❤️

This message from a community member is a reminder that sometimes the smallest acts of support — showing up, listening, providing comfort, resources, and encouragement — can make a life-changing difference during someone’s hardest days.

We are incredibly proud of our crisis responders who help make this work possible. Together, we continue building a stronger, safer, and more compassionate community.

Thank you to our team for showing up when it matters most.
Hope. Help. Healing. 💙

💙 Community in Action – Florence, OR 💙

A recent call reminded us what’s possible when compassion and teamwork come together.

WLCR was contacted by a local senior who had been living alone in unsafe conditions due to severe hoarding. With courage, she asked for help — and our community showed up.

With her full consent and trust, WLCR partnered with Florence Police, Western Lane Fire & EMS, Adult Protective Services, Oregon Coast Humane Society, Florentine Estates Neighbor Helping Neighbor, Hyak, and incredible local volunteers. Over one powerful weekend, rooms were cleared, safe walkways restored, and hope rebuilt.

The result? A safe, livable home — and the ability for her to now qualify for in-home care services so she can remain independent. That first night, she shared that she danced in her living room. 💃

This is what crisis response truly means. Not every crisis involves sirens — sometimes it’s neighbors helping neighbors before things escalate.

✨ Special shout out to Cindy Gentry and Kristy Simmons for their unwavering dedication and fierce advocacy — not just for this client, but for every single person they serve through WLCR. Your compassion and commitment make a lasting difference in our community.

We are so proud to serve Florence alongside such incredible partners. When one person asks for help, this community rises. 💙
