The concept of this group came from my mother’s gift of giving each year at Christmas Time. After her passing I took a break. In 2014 a friend’s child passed away. In his eulogy he called for people to to take action, help others, start a 501c3. To do something to make a difference in the world. After a discussion with Monica Day ( who is always willing to help me with my “crazy” ideas) we started
this group. After a dinner with Monica Day and Karey Cooper,( who is a social worker in Boone County Ky.), Karey said to us if we wanted to help children she had children we could help! Karey along with her co-workers provide us with names of some of the most neediest kids they have in our county.( This year we have added children from Kenton County also!) Most of these children have been taken away from their parents due to drugs or abuse. A large majority of them are living with family member many of them are grandparents. These relatives take them in because they love them and do not want to lose contact with them. Since they are not in " Foster Care" they do not receive benefits. We try to provide the best we can for them at Christmas. With many of them living with relatives on fix incomes they are not able to provide very much for them. Our goal is to help provide Christmas for these children. To let them know that there is hope in the world and that people do care about them! I can tell you from last year these people are so grateful! We really have to ask them to provide us with toy ideas because they do not want to seem greedy! The presents are personally delivered to the child by their social worker. It is because of the goodness of others like yourself that we have given Christmas to 791 children in the last 7 years! Thank you for supporting this group! Without your help none of this would be possible! Denise and Monica
