Update: Kaiden Williams
As I usually do, I checked in with Kaiden's dad (Kevin) today to see how they were doing.
He replied with just one sentence.
"I held my son while the doctors cut into his face to get to the tumor."
I sat there looking at those words unable to respond. There isn't really a response for something like that. I just kept thinking how much they have both endured already and how difficult it continues to be.
Today was a hard day for Kaiden.
Although he has completed his first round of chemotherapy since arriving in India, the tumor has continued to grow. It has now broken through the skin and tissue of his cheek. This morning his doctors had to perform another procedure to manage the growth and to give him some relief.
His biopsy has already been completed, but the medical team is still waiting for the results of additional advanced testing. Those results will help guide the next steps in his treatment. Until then, they're strategically moving forward with the current care plan. Two more rounds of chemotherapy are planned, and an oncologic surgeon is actively evaluating whether surgery should become part of his treatment.
Kevin shared something else with me that I haven't been able to shake.
He said, "Kaiden is so strong. He keeps fighting. But the pain...even with all the medication they give him, it's unbearable."
If you've been praying for this little boy, please don't stop.
Pray for wisdom for the doctors who are caring for him. Pray that the remaining test results provide the answers they're searching for. Pray that his pain eases. And please remember Kevin, who has been by his son's side through every difficult moment.
Thank you for continuing to stand with this family. Your kindness has carried them farther than you know.
