Our Spirit Night at Rio Grande is just a week and a half away! Reminding everyone to put it on their calendar because you know you want to come. Great food, and Safe Shelter receives 25% of your meal bill. This includes beverages, and Rio Grande also serves beer, wine, margueritas, you name it! Tuesday August 18, 5 - 9 pm. Just tell staff when you enter that you're there for the Spirit Night. They'll seat you in our designated area. During those hours you can also order food to go, and if you mention Safe Shelter when you order, we receive 25% of that too! Also we will have home baked desserts for sale by donation. This event could be a big help to the animals here. Hope to see everyone there!!

Mindy needs help. She has been up for adoption at at Frederick County (Maryland) Animal Control since January. Shelter staff describe her as sweet but fearful. No aggression at all, she just takes a bit to get used to new people and surroundings. Mindy is not doing well in the shelter environment. She needs a very patient adopter, or foster family, to help her decompress and become better socialized. Loves other dogs. She also just successfully completed a week of training. 3 years old. Still needing help! Can anyone foster? Mindy needs time to decompress from the shelter stress, and learn more social skills with people. Totally non-aggressive and loves other dogs. Please continue to share!

Arlo on our walk this morning. He's still waiting for a home! Good dog all the way around. 30 lbs. About 7 years old. Seems fine with both dogs and cats. Friendly but not a clinger. Housetrained. Neutered and vaccinated. Enjoys a leash walk, or exploring a yard. Arlo's owner died and he was turned over to a shelter in rural WV. When his time was up I pulled him. Staff there were quite fond of him. You will be too! 240 522 7416 to learn more.
