Food Bank of Eastern Michigan's Best Food Forward and Pantry Program

Food Bank of Eastern Michigan's Best Food Forward and Pantry Program Childhood hunger is a health problem, educational problem, and workforce readiness problem. Through continued efforts, we hope to assist in these outcomes.

The Purpose of Best Food Forward (BFF) is to help solve food insecurity within the Westwood Heights community. We make sure families consistently have physical and economic access to healthy food items within the school, home & Community. BFF has helped to establish regular mobile food giveaways, school pantries, a backpack program and a community garden. Food Security within children improves edu

cation, health, behavior and family stability. The goal of the School Pantry Program is to help alleviate child hunger through the provision of food to children and their families through distributions at school. School pantries are located on the ground of a school intended to provide a more readily accessible source of food assistance to low-income students and their families. School pantries give students the resources they need to feel secure in their home life and thereby turn their attention toward succeeding in school.
