The Armory Church - Pontiac

The Armory Church - Pontiac A "non-traditional" Christian Church movement of service and dedication to our True Purpose. Jesus was and is a radical. We, too, are radicals.

A physical and spiritual vigilante that served a High Power. His Gift to us was the Holy Spirit - our connection to our True Purpose. He has indwelt us with our mission: To wage spiritual warfare against The Enemy by loving the hell out of people. We accomplish this by:
#1 Seeking out and serving the lost, the disenfranchised, and the homeless.
#2 Empowering at-risk communities so that they can

defend themselves from Evil without reliance upon unworthy, unreliable, or purely political entities and institutions. We have identified (and perhaps you have seen) that "the church" is NOT what it was meant to be. It's not baptists, catholics, or any other flavor of religion. It's not "what we do on Sunday". THE CHURCH is you and I and how we choose to use our time, our resources, and our gifts to help others. Choosing Christ is a lot more than just believing. Your faith should be an outpouring of relevance to those around you. If it isn't, you need to ask yourself : Is this really faith? Jesus gave two ultimate commandments: Love God and Love Others. Then he showed us in Matthew 25 that even though "believing" gets you in the Book of Life, being in service to the Least of Us is what gets you to Heaven. Never forget that the "goats" were believers, too. And that demons probably know more biblical passages than any person on earth. The Armory Church is who we are. The Armor of Light Ministry is what we do. The Spirit of Fear has NO PLACE HERE.

Our very first public event was still our most popular to-date.

In August 2013 we were scoping out a location for our first event - a BBQ for those living on the street.
After months of getting no response from the City of Detroit, I went to go check out the Capitol Park area, right behind this building.
On Washington Blvd this church was having a picnic that day. So I went up to the "man in charge" - don't remember his name - but I called him Friar and he looked the part.

I asked him, "How do you get a permit for events like this?"

He said, "Oh, we call this a suddenly picnic. We just do it."

And that's exactly what we did. We served well over 250 people on the day of our event.
But what really stuck was the premise that "We're doing the Lord's work, under the highest Authority". And while our latest event included lots of reservations and even an insurance policy, remembering those words always brings us closer to our founding virtues.
