Employee Spotlight: Barb Woody đ
For nearly 40 years, Barb Woody has been a dedicated part of the team at Mott Childrenâs Health Center, bringing accuracy, heart, and a deep sense of community to everything she does.
After beginning her career in the printing department and switchboard, Barb worked across records and customer service for the medical, dental, and behavioral health departments before discovering her passion for accounting while attending Baker College. Today, she serves as Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Receivables Accountant, where her attention to detail and love for âmaking it work down to the pennyâ shine every day.
Barb says the people are what have made MCHC feel like home since day one. Encouraged to apply by her future mother-in-law, Helen Woody, who also worked at MCHC, Barb joined the organization 39 years ago and still believes it is âtruly the best place to work.â
She credits the special committees and employee groups throughout the organization for creating a true work family atmosphere, including the QWL, Wellness, Holiday, and Surprise Committees. Barb values the friendships and sense of togetherness that have grown throughout her career.
Outside of work, Barb enjoys camping and spending time with friends and family. She has been married to her husband, Mike, for 32 years, and together they have a son, Miles.
As Barb puts it best: âLove what you do, and youâll never feel like youâre going to work, youâre going to see your friends in the place where they pay you.â
